<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Timberwolves are continuing their quest to lure free agent guard Troy Hudson back to the team. The team and Hudson's agent, Bill Neff, have been talking about a multiyear contract.

Neff said he and the team have exchanged proposals, though he said the two sides were still a ways apart. Neff said it was a step in the right direction. "But," he added, "we're not in the same place right now."

Meanwhile, Toronto is among several other teams that have expressed an interest in Hudson.

Neff has said all along that Hudson wants to return to the Wolves. But, in a free agent market without a lot of quality point guards, Hudson has attracted quite a bit of interest. Neff said the Wolves and Toronto have been at the top of that list, but that five or six other teams have already made contact, and that he expects more teams to do so.

ESPN reported the Wolves were prepared to offer a five-year deal worth about $18 million, with incentives that could bring that figure close to $25 million. Neff called the ESPN report "in the ballpark." He said he had made a counter-offer to the Wolves.

Hudson is likely looking for a contract that starts at least at the midlevel exception of about $5.1 million for next season. The Wolves hold "early Bird" rights to Hudson, which means they can offer up to, but no more than, the midlevel exception without actually using that exception, which would allow them to use that exception money on other players.</div>

This is what I expected. At this time, a veteran PG attracts a lot of attention on the free-agent market. Hudson has a lot to gain by staying with the Wolves, but does he have more to gain by joining with another team?

On the Wolves, he would go second to Cassel, who would start at the PG position. That would be a downside to him. It's hard to say how much pay time he would get around Cassel, especially if the guys haveing 30-point games. On a more positive side, Hudson has a lot of friends on the team, and could very well get a ring by staying.

On another team, Hudson would surely be the starting PG. Hudson is a veteran PG, and would be very used on another team, as opposed to being on the Wolves and having few minutes. Hudson, a slightly older player, would likely want to be starting at this point in his career rather than sitting on the bench. Since many teams can benefit from his expertise at the PG position, he would be a highly valued player on that team.
Then, to top it off, that team would probably be able to pay Hudson a lot more than Minnesota.

Which is gonna sound more appealing to him? To be a highly valued starter and get payed what you want. Or play off the bench for less money, but be with friends and possibly get a ring?
If it goes down to looking at the decision that way, what's he gonna want?

Well I think we can worry less about the Raptors going after him. I think the Raptors just offered Rafer Alston a deal and he accepted so I don't think Alston is playing for the Heat, he's a Raptor now. The point here is that the Raptors were looking for a PG, were interested in Hudson but grabbed Alston so now they aren't in need of a PG.

And I'm sure if Hudson goes anywhere else, that he would be a starting PG. Kg-MVP, you made a lot of good points on why he would be a good PG for a lot of teams. He's a vet and everything. You also made some good points on why he would want to leave and be a starter somewhere else. He's getting later in his career and he might want to leave and be a starter and get some quality minutes whereas if he stayed here, he would be a backup to an All-Star and wouldn't get as many minutes. So he would probably rather go to a team where he fits better and he can be a starter and can play.

His agent said that Troy wants to return to Minnesota, so he would probably stay in Minnesota. I don't think playing as a back-up to Cassell will be a problem. I have heard that Cassell would play less minutes, that would give Troy his share of playing time. But being a starter on a team will help his career.

But what matters is what he wants.

He's saying it himself that he wants to be back:

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Troy Hudson:</div><div class="quote_post">"I definitely want to come back here," Hudson said after the Wolves' summer league game Wednesday. "I just want to be satisfied. There's some work to be done. Hopefully we can get it done. I wish we could have gotten it done July 1."</div>

If the pacers are really interested in Hudson then the Wolves should re-sign him. And then ship him/ Ervin Johnson(nice amount of cap space after next season)/and another throw in player or future 2nd-round pick to the Pacers for Al Harrington/a throw in player. And then that will allow the Wolves to legitimately put Wally S. on the trade block for a upgrade at th center spot. And the wolves can get a cheaper veteran point guard on the FA market to backup Sam. Someone who is a pass 1st pg & plays some defense.
