<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Charlotte won its second game in as many nights at the Minnesota Summer League, defeating the host Timberwolves by an 81-76 margin. Also for the second-straight night, the Bobcats never trailed in the contest.

?Defense is our philosophy and trying to create offense from pressure defense and we?re trying to set that tone. Sometimes offense comes along a little slower, but defense should be a constant,? said Gary Kloppenburg, the team?s coach Wednesday night. ?I was happy with the way we were able to force turnovers and Minnesota had 23 turnovers tonight, so you have to credit our effort.?

Six players scored eight or more points, paced by Gerald Wallace?s 16 points. Danny Johnson added 10 points off the bench and Jason Kapono, Loren Woods, Corey Benjamin each scored nine points. Tamar Slay tallied eight points and a team-best seven rebounds.

The Bobcats followed their solid defensive effort from Tuesday night?s game by holding the Wolves to .235 (4-17) from the field in the opening period. Charlotte enjoyed a 17-13 lead after the first quarter behind six points by Wallace and five points from Benjamin.</div>

We are off to a 2-0 start with some strong defensive play. It's a shame Emeka can't play, but he's got bigger things ahead of him then the summer league. Go Bobcats! [IMG]

If were doing this good in the summer league without Emeka imagine what we can do in the regular season with him, we will easily win more than 9 games... I watched the game on NBA TV and realized Smush can't play D, he would wander off towards the paint when Blake Stepp didnt have the ball.. Bernard Robinson should have been a first round pick he is so good, he does it all and if he doesnt make the roster than I dont think I'll like the bobcats too much. And please let Todd Fuller go he's too old or seems like it he moves slower than Oliver Miller.

OT: Smush's name is spelled Smush but pronounced (Sm-oo-sh)

I expect Gerald Wallace to break out this year. He is doing well so far in the summer league and if he can keep it up he could be a decent player in this league. I think the Bobcats fans are getting a little too excited over this 2-0 start. Remebe guys, its just summer league.

Yeah, no reason to get too excited. Look at the rosters... This success won't duplicate so easily in the NBA season. But it is better than to rather be losing these summer league games.

Anyway, the Bobcats like Corey Benjamin. Looks like they are trying to negotiate a contract with him already.

    From the Charlotte Observer:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MINNEAPOLIS - Pencil in Corey Benjamin for the Charlotte Bobcats' first roster.

"I'm close to a deal on Corey," Bobcats coach/general manager Bernie Bickerstaff told the Observer Tuesday. "This kid should be in the league. There's no doubt in my mind."

Benjamin, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward, was a Chicago Bulls first-round pick in 1998. He spent three seasons in Chicago, and has since played in the Italian League and briefly with the Atlanta Hawks.

Benjamin isn't a great defender, but he's an occasionally spectacular scorer in transition. He scored the Bobcats' first basket here, a 12-foot floater in the lane that showed his athleticism. He can play multiple positions, and Bickerstaff is intrigued by the matchup problems he presents.

Benjamin played a season of college ball with Bobcats assistant J.B. Bickerstaff at Oregon State before the latter transferred to Minnesota.</div>

Well hey, it's better than LOSING these Summer League games, especially when we are facing these lackluster rosters.

Agreed. And plus, making good first impressions can be a good thing.
