Trade two centers for Shaq. You think the Lakers would take it? Damp and Foyle + 1rst round for Shaq? I don't even know if this is even possible. Zhone? Walk? Anybody?

Well, Foyle can't be included in any trades until Dec. 15 since he was a FA who signed. (Remember, we had Mark Jackson grumbling on our bench until he could be traded a while back? It was because we had to wait.)

Money wise it doesn't match up either. Shaq is 30 million - which is like 2 other max contract players. The highest paid player we have is NVE. Taking the most expensive players, it'd be like NVE (12 mil), Damp (10+ mil), Robinson (5 mil) and any other player to make it. Even if we included the most valuable of those (Dunleavy or Richardson, probably) I doubt the Lakers would bite.

I think that happened with Mark Jackson because he was a restricted FA. Foyle was unrestricted. Plus, if that was the case, how do you do sign and trade deals in the first place?

It happens to any FA unless they agree to a sign-and-trade, that is the only exception.

In a sign-and-trade, the player traded must be get a minimum of 3 years, not be just ending his rookie contract, not be under an exception, and must sign that he agrees the contract with that other team. It's a special exception to the rule that no FA can be traded.

Sorry it wasn't clear, I just didn't want to confuse it too much in the first place.
