<div class="quote_poster">Quoting saad:</div><div class="quote_post">cant find the link it was just up on espn. its grant, odom and first rounder for shaq possibly.</div> I heard Caron Butler is included also.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting magicfandan:</div><div class="quote_post">I heard Caron Butler is included also.</div> not according to espn, but i have heard other reports from people who say he will be included
Malik Allen is supposedly going to be included also.. and i've heard that the heat won't trade butler.. so it would be Odom, Grant, Malik allen, and possibly butler.... So if butler is included it becomes a little more beneficial for the Lakers to do the deal, but are you kidding me??!!!! The only asset that they would get is Odom, Grant is an undersized center, and a liability on offense... Malik who?... and butler has promise, but he hasn't proved anything to me, and who knows how he'd be out west... So lets assume the Lakers resign Kobe.. their starting 5 would look something like this: PG. Payton SG. Byrant SF. George/Fox/Butler? PF. Odom C. Grant If you ask me that lineup looks like The heat to me.. Payton would resemble a washed up Dwayne Wade, and Grant would resemble shaq in 4th grade.
Caron would start over George, and Fox might retire..I like that lineup if Shaq doesnt want to be here, that deal intrigues me...what I am worried about is Kobe re-signing
I do like that lineup. It's seems very appealing to me. Plus, currently, it might be the best deal the Lakers can get, and, it's actually pretty good. They get a descent center in Brian Grant, they get the versatile Lamar Odom, and they get a young and developing Caron Butler. So, overall, I like this trade. But, I'm still wondering to see what other teams are willing to offer to get Shaq. Plus, it isn't official that Caron Butler is in it but according to SportsCenter he'd almost have to be in it for this trade to go down.
There's a bunch of trade rumors with the Heat and Shaq. I hope Shaq goes to the Heat, it balances out the all-star games..but I like the Heat's team now, I think this might be the best deal the Lakers can get, the Mavs are not and should NOT give up Dirk, neither should Indy give up Jermaine. I really hope Shaq goes to Miami and then he drops 50 on the Lakers every time against them. I would become a Shaq fan again, I loved shaq when he was with the magic.. "For the Heat to even come close to the $27.7 million O'Neal is scheduled to earn next season, it likely would require a package starting with forward Lamar Odom and either center Brian Grant or guard Eddie Jones. From there, the Lakers likely would insist on a draft pick as well as, perhaps, forward Caron Butler." Taken from.. http://nba.insidehoops.com/nba_rumors.shtml Shaq trade rumors HEATing up...
if malone comes back, ....it would be llike this Payton Bryant Odom Malone Grant/?? i m sure grant can not play center in the west so, they mite want to use grant as a back up for malone
as a laker fan...the package i would like to see for Shaq would be Lamar Odom / Brian Grant / Udonis Haslem / Dorrell Wright...but we'll see...obviously the heat are not going to part with wade but i would much rather see dorrell in a laker uniform than caron butler... i think the only way the heat would be willing to part with wade is if the lakers were willing to take both the contracts of eddie jones and brian grant and send back expiring contracts like fox / payton etc. to put them way under hte cap to sign players around shaq next off season but we'll see... i really do want to see odom back in LA and would like to see wright and haslem in laker jerseys as well...and i think brian grant is competent but cant handle the rigors of playing C in teh west like someone said before...which leaves free agency to try and acquire a solid big man...
2 Years ago if Shaq was on the Market, his value would be much much higher than it is now. Imagine who people would give up for him. If Wade was in the league then, and the rosters are as it is, then the Heat would probably offer Wade, Odom, and Butler for Shaq.
