Gasol and Battier for Curry and #1 draft pick third over all. This would free up salary cap space and allow the signing of a star player.
Yeah, give us a link. I would think the Grizz fans would like it because Luol Deng is going to be an awesome play, and I still think Eddy Curry can become a real good player in the league.
Proof man, we need proof of this rumor. Your friends dont count unless they are a David Aldridge type source. I would do this in a Heart beat if I was Memphis.
If this is true and they will make the deal then Jerry West is a god (well he kinda is already) Gasol seems to stay 18 point ,9 rebound guy if he stays in Memphis but I see him becoming a better player in Chicago and also Battier would be better in Chicago but if you're gonna think of it,Curry may become a player like Darius Miles, every year your gonna think he's gonna break out and average great numbers but he won't and Luol Deng may be a bust because he ain't no Carmelo Anthony.Memphis gets a big man but if this deal goes down I see another trade coming for Memphis, who will be their starting power forward?
i don't like battier but i like gasol, i hope this deals goes down. it seems like an even trade...Gasol in a bulls uniform, sweet...
"So here it is: No. 3, Eddy Curry and some of those bad contracts like Scottie Pippen's or Eddie Robinson's to Memphis for Pau Gasol and Shane Battier. Maybe No. 3, a real bad contract like Jerome Williams' or Antonio Davis' and Curry to Seattle for Ray Allen and Seattle's lottery pick, No. 12. The Grizzlies and Supersonics are said to have contacted the Bulls about Curry, who remains the only real bait the Bulls have. There's little or no interest in Jamal Crawford or Tyson Chandler. A peek at the standings explains it. There are four teams in the West who need a low post center: Memphis, Seattle, Dallas and Golden State." Chicago Tribune "The belief around the NBA is Curry still can develop but won't in Chicago. It's why Memphis probably would consider including Gasol, who is said to be available despite his team's 50-win season. They have Stromile Swift, they're not convinced Gasol is tough enough for the Western Conference and general manager Jerry West, currently without a pick, supposedly would love to get into the draft. It's probably the best package the Bulls could get. Allen, at his age and salary, is a big risk." Chicago Tribune" This has been taken from hoopshype rumors of may 28. I think it's an awful deal for the grizz. Gasol is 18 p 9 r but in 30 mpg, has never played something near 40 mpg, I think with that amount of time he could be a 20-10. In the other hand we got curry, a 6-11 center who after 3 seasons in the nba is still a perhaps, is injury prone and almost averaging the same minutes as gasol is a 14.7 p 6.2 r in one of the worst team in the nba. Battier is a versatile player who defend hard, can hit clutch shots, can hit threes can become a leader and doesn't give any kind of problems. With all that say I can't think of this as good deal for the grizz, but as a good deal for the bulls.
Jerry West is not stupid. He will not trade his best player for Eddy Curry because that would make his team worse. Even with the lottery pick the Bulls have included. I truly believe that the playoffs are more important to West than experimenting with injury prone players. You can do that garbage in the east but you won't survive in the west by playing around.
I don't like this deal. I wouldn't mind to have Eddie Curry on the team, but Luol Deng just doesn't impress me. I'd rather keep Gasol and Battier. They're a deadly duo. I think that most of what they do goes unnoticed because of the lack of playing time and media exposure, but they're pretty much the core of this club right now. I wouldn't mind packaging them for McGrady, but if we did this deal it'd be like starting all over again. Let's trade these two for some proven players instead of some projects. BTW - Happy birthday, tidi! :dancepart
As for freeing up cap space it doesnt,as for am I for this trade=NO. Gasol is my favorite Grizzlie. I just posted it to see what you guys thought.
Gasol would even be greater if he just got stronger and bulked himself up. He's a great scorer, I'd miss having him on the team if he were to go, seeing as he is the best player. I'd much rather let go of Miller, seeing as he doesn't have the guts to take the shots he can make. If it were up to me, I'd never let go of Battier, he's one of those all out effort players that can turn around a ball game with sheer effort, personality and emotion. It's very difficult to come across players like that and find at least on every team. Sure he didn't live up to his high ranked # in the draft, but he plays well for you guys. Curry would be great though, but like a lot of your players already, he's young and has potential, so what would be the difference, you'd be like the Blazers, nothing new.
