Grizzlies Summer League Roster & Schedule Roster and Schedule Predicted starters: PG - Antonio Burks (Memphis) SG - Andre Emmett (Texas Tech) SF - Dahntay Jones (Duke) PF - Ryan Humphrey (Notre Dame) C - Kris Lang (North Carolina) Bench: G - Jaron Brown (Pittsburgh) SF - Cedric Henderson (Memphis) F - Antonio Meeking (Louisiana Tech) PF - Scott Merritt (Marquette) PG - Robert O'Kelley (Wake Forest) PF - Aerick Sanders (San Diego State) F - Ansu Sesay (Mississippi) Injured: PG - Troy Bell (Minnesota) I don't have much faith in this summer league team. There's no surprising or big-time names on here. We didn't handle our big man problem either. Honestly, does Robert O'Kelly from Wake Forest think he has a shot of making this team as a point guard? lol I wonder if they'll replace Troy Bell and who'll they'll replace him with.
I must agree with you Voodoo, it is only summer league but this team will crumble against some of the other summer league squads. Maybe Emmett will break out and give me another reason to hate the Sonics' draft. Also noticed Sesay on the bench... he should get a shot at a roster spot, he's got some upside which we saw in Seattle last year.

I was very surprised that he didn't get picked in the NBA Draft this June. Many teams with second-round picks and needing PG's passed up on him. His style is similar to Bell's in that they both like to push the ball and lead the break. I'm thinking Bell's replacement would be either Barrett or Jason Gardner, who is also like Bell but 2 inches shorter.

I don't know if Jason Gardener is playing with anyone, but I don't know why he'd want to be in Memphis. We've got more than a full roster and have no room for a mediocre summer league guard.
I was surprised to see Cedric Henderson's name on the roster. He's been around for ages. The only player I see who could actually make the roster is Sesay. He's very athletic and has become a decent shooter from mid range. He has a nice pull up jumper off the dribble and nice long arms to defend the passing lanes. Aside from Sesay, the only players I would look forward to watching are Jones and Emmett. It's a shame Bell was injured. I'm a big fan of his and I still think he can make an impact in the league with proper development and playing time. This injury is going to set him back in reaching his goals, but he has great work ethic, and should be back sooner than anticipated. Are any of these players actually hand picked by Jerry West? He's always been great at spotting undrafted talent, so I was just curious if any of these players were favorites to make the team?

That's why you don't see any big names on the summer league roster. Everyone knows there very little chance they could actually make the regular season roster. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Are any of these players actually hand picked by Jerry West? I'm surprised to find out Cedric Henderson is only 29. Seems like he's been in the league for over a decade. I guess his journeyman career had me convinced he was well into his 30's. I don't think he's played the last few years either. West usually throws out some good words to players invited to the camp. Or some media person will report to keep an eye out for so and so because West has a "fondness" for him.

If I remember correctly, he was a High School All-American and one of the top three prospects at the time. He was getting a lot of media attention. His career at Memphis also got a lot of attention. I think he might have been on that team that went to the Final 4.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ezra:</div><div class="quote_post">Isn't Bo Outlaw usually on these teams?</div> He's got a long term contract and in his thirties; no.
