Yeah I just got that funny feeling that she played a guilt trip of what happens if you get BOMBED in Greece. WE have NO money!! I think he got that in his head and then screwed us. BUT honestly I think we are going to be fine without him.. sure he was good. But I think he had allot help with Z & Lebron taking pressure off him. We will be fine. we are going to have allot money to spend in a couple years, plus what he have right now with these new moves is pretty good.
I still cant believe Boozer LIED to a Blind Man!! I mean how does he sleep at night?? What a Scumbag! But he is a true moron. IF he took the $5 Million for a one year (this year) from us he would have made more next summer from us... PLUS if he was worried about getting bombed in the Olympics. His OWN Agent said we can Insure you for the $68 Million right now, BUT he still went back on his word. The Guy lost on respect in the league, he is NOT going to get any outside commercial contracts now, what company is going to want to use him as a spokesman?? The Guy LIED to a Blind Man wow.
yeah, it's really sad, aint' it? By now, we've all heard Boozer's side of the story, that he never made any promises to Paxon and Gund. But C'mon. Seriously, Guynd and Paxon aren't that stupid. They would have NEVER let him out of his contract if they thought that he would sign with anyone else. Never in a million years. I was also one who was really looking forward to Lebron and Boozer playing together for years. Really sad.

The Cavs would have had to spend alot of money to keep both Z and Booz during the same offseason and still have to make more addtions to a young team next offseason. Thats to much money to spend in one offseason, so they tired to jump the gun and get Boozer out of the way this offseason and it back fired on them.

But I still think that Boozer game them some sort of assurance that he would sign with Cleveland. I was just saying that they would never let a guy like booz become a free agent without some sort of assurance. Without that, they would never had let him get out of his contract, even if it meant both Booz and Z were free agents next year. IMO, Booz is/was more valuable than big Z.
Tsk Tsk Tsk Why are we still going on about this? Haven't the Cav's been embarassed enough? To us fans the NBA is all about fun and enjoyment, but to these players it's about supporting their families and earning a living while they can. They have to ensure theyselves at all times that they are in the best situation they can possibly be in. ENTER THE SPORTS AGENTS. Without agents would everything be better? I don't think so. Without an agent Carlos Boozer probably wouldn't have realised that the Cavs management made a large business error by giving him the opportunity to leave. His agent did his job, it's that simple. I think neither the agent or Boozer did anything wrong here. I don't really care if Boozer did "verbally" agree to anything. Gund is an experienced business man, owns degrees from various universities, and is over 60 years old and should have had the sense to not take a risk like that.
I still can't believe his with the Jazz. Dag, I liked watching him and Bron play together. It's all about that paper. Benji, Benji, bills ya'll.
I can't believe people are actually keeping this thread alive. I think everyone should forget about Boozer and the Cavs and remember it's a buisness. When dealing in sports and francises, money rules the world.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting grinder333:</div><div class="quote_post">...but to these players it's about supporting their families and earning a living while they can. .</div> Sure, you could say that, but honestly, he was about to get $40 million from the cavs. I think his family could have gotten by on that, as humble of a lifestyle as it may have been. I really don't know how I feel when people say that NBA players sign for more money because they have to take care of their family. While that argument may be valid for 99% of this world, NBA players are in a different world. At some point, your family is already well taken care of for the next 20 generations. That's when greed kicks in. I also understand that it's just business, but I can't buy into that 100% either. Just because it's business, it doesn't mean it has to be dirty. If you verbally agree on a deal, shake hands on it, and one side of a party takes a risk to help you out, then you should have the integrity to follow through on your end of the deal. Doens't matter if it's in the world of business, friends, family, if there are agents involved or not. To me, "it's just business" does not automatically translate to "anything goes, including screwing someone who helped you so you can land with a bit more $$$." Also, being in "the best situation they can possibly be in" isn't just about money. It should also be about things like reputation and honor. These are things that a guy like Gund held dear. Boozer and his former agents' have now been smeared. As opinionated as I am about this debacle, I do however agree with you that what's done is done and at some point, we have to move on. I'll stop talking about it now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting celtfan:</div><div class="quote_post">Sure, you could say that, but honestly, he was about to get $40 million from the cavs.</div> Wasn't he supposed to sign a one year deal for 5 million and then next summer he would get this 40 million dollar deal? Most players would take the long-term contract worth more money. That is just the safer way to go. With the constant risk of injury why would such a young player sign a one year deal and risk getting injured and ending his career without income. Has Boozer worked his ass of in the gym for the last 15 years so Gund can keep him around for less money than he is worth? Boozer can now go out and play hard like he has been. His numbers last year were awesome and now with a long-term deal in place he can totally concentrate on basketball. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting celtfan:</div><div class="quote_post">I also understand that it's just business, but I can't buy into that 100% either. It should also be about things like reputation and honor. These are things that a guy like Gund held dear...</div> I would really like to agree with you here. Personally I hold my reputation and honor in high regards. The thing is my boss doesn't own a pro sports team and stand to make millions upon millions of dollars every year off of me and my teamates. My boss also has never asked me to stay with the company for a year for less money than I could make elsewhere while he continues to rake it in. Now lets see: 1. NBA players run around looking the biggest paycheck with no regards to the situation or anyone else 2. NCAA players are constantly caught taking money and other gifts 3. High School players are now openly being scouted to jump right to the pros I think its time for the NBA and the NCAA to stop counting their money and take the time to make some rule changes. When Gordan Gund, an owner for 21 years has to resort to "under the table" deals to keep a player he wants there is something wrong(I guess he could have went over the salary cap). When Carlos Boozer, a second round draft pick who was putting up unreal numbers for a second year player is put in this stressful situation once again there is something wrong. IT'S TIME FOR THE LEAGUE TO STOP PROTECTING ITSELF AND START LOOKING AFTER THE PLAYERS
This situation makes me sick and has been talked to the bone. Of course Cavalier fans will feel a certain way about the Boozer situation. No matter how morally right your posts are, it will never change our opinion on this subject. Im not going to go into full detail about how I personally feel because it will cause more statements just to shut us Cavs fans down on the fiasco. Bottom line, it's over and done with and its time to move on.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting grinder333:</div><div class="quote_post">To us fans the NBA is all about fun and enjoyment, but to these players it's about supporting their families and earning a living while they can.</div> I love that. Yeah, it's tough to support your family and earn a living off a measly couple million a year. I mean, Booz has to put food on the table!
