Great move from the Spurs, and good to see Brent turned down more money from the Blazers to go to a title contender. Spurs fans, you have signed a quality player and individual, and I hope he can land a ring in Texas.

The biggest need of the Spurs has been filled

    a three-point shooter

Barry will LOVE getting open shots with Duncan kicking the ball out. Wouldn't be surprised to see him shoot 50% from downtown next season.

I knew this signing was happening all week, Brent was basically waiting to see what deal Manu was going to get.

Not sure where BB is going to play, It's possible he may start at shooting guard and bring Manu off the bench again as spark but he will be getting paid 8 million a year which is abit much for a 6th man.

This means Sjax won't be returning to San Antonio which is a real shame, would of been good to see him return to the Spurs. He will likely end up in Indiana which is something I certainly don't want to happen.

I think it was a good move by the Spurs to go after Barry and I thinkl the only way to get him was by offering that fourth year, but I'm sure he'll get a lot of looks from outside and hopefully we'll get to see his athletic side as well.

Exactly. This was a great signing, and will certainly fill the void that Hedo left. Not only is Barry a great three point shooter, he can take the ball to the basket, and even play the point. He brings versatility and will fill a solid role on this Spurs team.

Good pick up, but he's not a great shooter or defender. He's not the ideal type of bench player because he's very streaky. I think they should have gone after a different shooting guard or small forward, someone with more athleticism or slashing capabilites.

Since when was Brent Barry not a great shooter? He shot 50% last year, and 45% (#2 in the NBA) from 3. Also about the comment about the slashing, Brent is very good at getting in the lane, hes selective and makes smart decisions with the ball.

Aw man, i wanted to see brent barry go to the Rockets, oh well, this just means the Spurs are the best in the west again..Brent Barry is awesome, what else can I say..

COME ON KINGS IN 2005!! (I think it's your year even though I was wrong the past few years..), but I think the Spurs are the fav with the acquiring of Barry...

Only the second best three point shooter in the league last season, and the league leader in adjusted shooting percentage (combination of threes, twos and freethrows) the last three seasons.

This was a good pick up by the Spurs, Barry will be a great scoring threat off the bench. He can score in many ways, and will bring experience. He will help make up for the loss of Hedo, and can play PG if required. He should fit in well with the Spurs, and playing with Tim Duncan will really help him get open looks.

I think it's easy for those of us who have been around awhile but not necessarilly kept up with Barry to only remember his younger days where he was primarliy a dunker, barry has worked hard on his game, he isn't the faster guard but but uses his size and strength to post him smaller guards and slash to the hole. While no one would make the mistake of calling Barry a natural shooter he has great decision making and shoots from deep opportunisticly in this regard like Bruce Bowen who hasalso worked extremly hard on his shooting from 3.

As i am not a Spurs fan I posted here earlier not to say this was a bad move, i mean how could it be right? No I just wanted some Spurs fans to talk about the Spurs roster has it seems very bloated right now with lots of guards and lots of youth as well especially foreign players, we know Turkoglu won't be back but it's still pretty crowded and you are bringing in your drafties as well.

    Thanks

Where will Barry play? With Parker at the PG and Ginobli at the SG positions will they have Bowen or Barry be the SF. He played the SF position before the SOnics traded GP so we know he can play the position. IMO if they can get a better center than Nesterovic they will dominate a good part of the league. Even with Nesterovic they will still be on top of the Western Conference Standings.

    i'm happy for brent.

And i can almost be sure that he wil be in the finals with the spurs.

Because i believe the spurs were the only team that gave the Lake show any problems last year and the year before.

I mean now witht he Lakers demise i see the Spurss coming out next year with a great chance at locking down them some bling bling. ( championship rings)

The spurs did a great move, but what about the rockets? Do they have ANY profit?
