Well it looks like brent barry is going to SA and Rudy is pushing to sign D. Fish. With that said who is the next target for pg in Houston? Will it be a free agent or will the Rockets try to arrange a trade?
Well, considering they got Tyronn Lue out of that deal with McGrady, I would bet that he could run the point. The only way I don't think he runs the point next is if they do end up signing a free agent. And, if Rudy T gets his way, DFish will stay in a Lakers uni so that will cancel him out. And after him, who else is there? Nash has signed an offer sheet, so he's gone. They traded away Francis. Options are pretty low if DFish goes back to the Lakers.
That would be awesome if D fish signs with the Rockets. It's a good fit. BTW I feel bad for Trip since the Franchise was his favorite player. The Custodian got signed to Memphis so I probably gotta revamp my screen name and avatar.
Well losing Barry to the Spurs may have hurt us in more ways then one. According to espn the Rockets and sonics were discussing a trade to send antonio daniels to houston for draft picks. I doubt seattle will give up two gaurds in the offseason.

Cardinal to Memphis is a pretty good deal for him and the Grizz man, although I feel the Warriors should have tried to keep him instead of overpaying Foyle, but I can see their reason for that. Back on topic, clutchcity, do you have a link to verify that Barry is going to San Antonio? I thought he was set to sign with us, or did the Spurs offer even more?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1837273 Yeah it looks like Barry's gonna be on the Spurs next year, and with Rudy T already talking to D-Fish, our chances slim down to Hudson, who looks like hes staying with the Wolves, or a trade. I think Kevin Ollie is someone we'll be looking at, though I kinda wanted Antonio Daniels here. Brent Berry woulda been good to, but D-Fish looked like the person that would suit us best. I dont think the Rockets ever offered Barry anything, because I would assume he'd join us, because he would get more money, a starting position, a 4 year deal, and a young team to play with. Man i really dont know any good PGs that would fit us. I think the Antonio Daniels deal can go down, because, dont the Sonics have Flip Murray and Luke Ridnour? Difficult predicament the Rockets are in.. I really dont want Lue to start, I think he serves better as a reserve, we could make Gaines into a Shooting Guard, but that might not be in our best interest. I guess we're gonna have to wait on this one.
Looking at the free agents, there is almost no one left that is not committed yet and can be good enough to start. If we really can't get a veteran PG, I guess we would need to look at the young, unproven ones. Guys like Mateen Cleaves or Tierre Brown could be invited to training camp and make an impact. However, I'd wish for something better to happen as compared to something as desperate as that.
Bleh...Brent Barry is a Spur...I went from lovin him to hatin him in a matter of hours ... Anyways, yeah I think D-Fish is our next viable option and its likely he signs here and doesnt return to LA...he atleast can be a starter here and thats why he opted out of his LA contract in the first place...if not Derek, then we are likely going to have to go to a third-tier guard, such as a Damon Jones or Speedy Claxton...If Fish doesnt re-sign here for some odd reason, then I would love to see Jones here...hes a 40 percent trey bomber and had the second-best assist/TO ratios last year in leading the Milwaukee Bucks to the playoffs in the place of an injured TJ Ford... But, yeh, lets get Fish in a Rockets uni...

Tyrone Lew is decent. You guys don't think he's good enough to start though? Is Erick Strickland a FA (he'd be a good bench guy)? Snow wouldn't be bad although he can't get a consistent 3 point shot (Can he at least hit 23' to spread the floor?).
I think it would be best to go for Derek Fisher. Theres not much of a selection that we can choose from, and he's pretty much as good as its gonnna get. Besides, he can fit in with JVG, Yao and Tmac. Just hope that Rudy wont screw the Rockets over...
Because of the departure of Shaq it is rumored that Gary Peyton is looking for a buyout of his contract. Apparantly he is not happy with what LA would receive for Shaq. If he is out and they offer fisher a chance to start I think he would stay in LA.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Tripl3:</div><div class="quote_post">if not Derek, then we are likely going to have to go to a third-tier guard, such as a Damon Jones or Speedy Claxton...</div> I put Damon Jones and Speedy Claxton in the 2nd tier, and Fisher in the 3rd tier.. but that's just my opinion Charlie Ward might come to Houston, I think JVG will push for that to happen.. He was a pretty good 3 point shooter in NY last season though he doesn't break down the defense as well as most other PG's.. He's inconsistent too, but might be an upgrade over Mark Jackson.

Was Jackson really that bad in Houston last season? He's a pretty pure PG and better at running an offense than Ward IMO.

IMO, I think Ward will be a Rocket next season.
Just a little bit of information: Speedy Claxton is NOT a free agent. He is still under contract with Golden State for two more years and it's not likely that the Warriors would give him up. Also, Ward would be a good addition, but come on...Is he really much of an upgrade over Lue or Gaines?
Ward's got more experience, especially in the playoffs. Lue is alright, but he is a bit undersized. Gaines might be alright but he doesn't have enough NBA games under his belt for anyone to judge his ability to run the team. The Rockets don't have many options left. I think they should just pick up Ward to replace Jackson's role on the team and hope for the best. He might be a good guy to have out there in 4th quarters and in the playoffs.
yeahh Gaines is most likely gonna get good next year cuz Van Gundy is gonna give him the chance he deserves, but we still need someone to start! we can't have someone as inexperienced as Reece Gaines or Tyronn Lue as the starting PG... it just wouldn't work
