I'm a hugh Mavericks fan, probably before most of you bandwagon jumpers on here. What are the Nelson's and Mark Cuban doing? Are you going to get Shaq or not? No matter how many moves you do you're not going to get Shaq without giving up Dirk. I'm looking at next years team and I'm finding it very hard to believe that the Mavs are going to make the playoffs. Instead of making Steve Nash priority number 1 the Mavs staff did all these moves to try to get Shaq, when the Lakers said that no Dirk no Shaq! All they cared about was Shaq. Nash probably got pissed off because his name was included in the LA trade. Do you think he wanted to play second fiddle to Gary Payton and play with the most selfish player in the game... Kobe Bryant? Thats why he went to Phoenix, if they were loyal to him than he probably wouldn't be going to Phoenix. As for the rest of the team, I don't care what you say, next years team still can't play defense, and you don't have a guy who can score 20 points game except for Dirk. Finely's going downhill, Daniles is not consistent enough neither is Howard and they lack experience, and they don't have a center. How dumb can you be to give up a first round draft pick for a 7'6 guy who averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds in Italy? I swear Don and Donnie Nelson have an obession with foriegners. The only foriegner that payed off is Dirk. I saw the Nelsons at many SMU games in Dallas, and you had the two WAC players of the year right in front of you and you rather take some no name spare and pray to god that he is good. Jeryl Sasser and Quinton Ross could have been your sixth man or your starting point guard. How many college point guards are going to score 20 points a game and lead the WAC in rebounds. Yes, thats right Sasser out rebounded Melvin Ely and Sasser was a point guard, and Ely was a lottery pick. You may say his offense is no good, but he has heart and can play beter defense than anyone on that team. Quinton Ross scored 20 points a game grabbed 6 rebounds a game. He's a great all around player who is just as good as Daniles or better. But LA Clippers already have him on the summer league team and they plan to sign him. Be looking out for Bryan Hopkins, I'm sure the Mavs will pass up on him too, but this kid can play and you will see him on a NBA team.... Back to this years team. I'm not sure about the new kid. You have Walker which I assume that he will be traded, but to who and for what? You're not going to win without a dominant big man. He doesn't have to score 20 points a game and 10 boards, but he can give you 10 points a game and 15 rebounds and 3 block shots. You win games with defense and none of these players can play defense. Even if you had Shaq they were willing to give up Howard and Daniles who are the best defenders. My personal opinion is that they should have given up Walker, Dirk, and Howard for Shaq. Then they should have just built the team around him. All I hear is that Shaq has only 2 or 3 dominant years left, and Dirk has about 7 to 8 year left. Let me ask you this if Dirks dominant, then why hasn't he won an MVP award, or been on the first team all NBA. Those are dominant players and it seems like everyone is getting better execpt him. If you have gotten rid of him you would have Shaq who would score over 25 points a game, and grabbed you about 15 rebounds a game. You would have Finley, Daniles, and Stackhouse, and you still would have had the 5th pick in the draft. You could have taken a point guard, or taken a power foward. That team would have been better than what this team is begining to look like. You may say that you're a Mavs fan but you're bashing them? Well its because I'm a die hard Mavs fan and it took so many years for them to become a good team in the NBA and to throw it all away because of a couple dumb mistake. I only hope the Mavs can still be a playoff contender team.
Are you crazy? Trade Dirk? And the only reason Dirk didnt get an MVP or an All NBA 1st team is because he is STILL improving. I can't belive you came in this thread and said we should have traded Dirk. I respect your opinion dont get me wrong but I dont agree one bit. Trade Dirk now that should be nomianted for "Post of the Month"
My thoughts exactly dee still ballin. Dirk is a one of a kind player and always will be. And I truely think Devin Harris will be a the perfect fill in for Steve Nash. P.S. Excuse me? Bandwagoners? I don`t think so.
You have 2 posts here and you come in and try to blast us all as bandwagoners? You gotta chill out. Dirk isnt going anywhere, especially for a big load who probably won't be able to make it up and down the court in 2 years.
