<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Stephen Jackson has agreed to a six-year, $39 million contract with the Indiana Pacers, a source close to Jackson told ESPN Insider's Chad Ford. The Pacers will use their entire mid-level exception to sign Jackson. Indiana has been looking for some athleticism and perimeter shooting in their backcourt and Jackson, who has championship experience with the Spurs, can provide both. </div> Complete STory
This would be a good signing. It'd give them a true perimeter threat, something that they don't really have. Plus, like the article, mentioned, he'd add athletecism to the back court. I think he'd be a good fit down there. Probably be a 3rd scorer, and one of those is always helpful. So, overall, I'd think this would be a good pick up for Indiana. It gives them help in the back court and it gives them a consistent perimeter threat.
Stephen Jackson is a good pick up for the Pacers if he plays a part of the backcourt instead of the 3 like they have him in atlanta. This would benefit the Pacers and make them even better, now only if they had another big man to help out JO not that Foster is bad but he isnt the greatest either. This Lineup would be awesome, BTW would Reggie be coming off the bench? PG: Jamaal Tinsley/Jamison Brewer SG:Stephen Jackson/Reggie Miller/Ron Artest SF:Ron Artest/Al Harrington/Stephen Jackson PF: Jermaine O'neal/Al Harrington C: Jeff Foster/??????

i think that stephen jackson will not be a good fit with the pacers because jo,rt,are going to want to shoot the ball most of the time and well sj is going to want to shoot also so i think they are not going to right together.
I like this signing. Although people are afraid of Stephen (Whoo) Jackson's shoot-first attitude he has proved that he can play in a disciplined system with the Spurs. The one thing I really like about him is the fact that he is best at catching and shooting the ball. JO will always attract double teams down low and when he passes out of the post Jackson will get those kinds of shots. Expecting 12-15 points out of Jackson is not a stretch at all. He may not be starting during the season but he will eventually relegate Reggie Miller to the bench.
I think Miller might start over Jackson because Miller might not be as productive off the bench. It's similar to the situation in SAC with Miller coming off the bench for Divac when Webber came back. PG: Tinsley/Anthony Johnson/Jamison Brewer SG: Miller/Jackson/Fred Jones SF: Artest/Bender/Croshere/James PF: JO/Foster C: Foster/Pollard/Harrison
What I saw on NBA TV Daily this morning was an Al Harrington sign-and-trade for Jackson. This certainly casts a new light on this rumor. Despite Al Harrington wanting to leave, would Jackson be worth him?

Both guys have the ability to be stars, in certain places . I believe Jackson will be starting and I think he will be putting up around the same numbers as Harrington did. And I also believe Harrington can put up the same numbers that Jackson did in ATL. So I clearly believe both teams are getting good solid players.
Why would Al Harrington want out when the Pacers could win the championship this year considering their success last year? Why would he want to go to the crappy Hawks? I'm guessing that he will be their 1st option and he would want to prove himself as a top tier player in the NBA. I had Gerald Wallace locked up for MIP of 2005, but I guess he now has a challenge.
I think Jackson is the perfect fit, if we had jackson in the playoffs aganst detroit, he would had knocked those open j's that al couldn't do! but I also think sj is more a all around player than al, and he is willing to come of the bench and learn from reggie. I think he should start, because miller could be put in the game in the clutch situations and stuff, cuz miller doesn't produce and I know sj will if he played when he played for hawks and spurs.

I don't find that too smart either, but Harrington has always expressed that he wants to be an All-Star, and I guess he felt he could achieve that with Atlanta. Deuce, I think Jackson is a better fit than Harrington too, since he can play both forward positions and shooting guard. However, I feel he would be better-served coming off the bench backing up three positions. He could still get 30 minutes per game and be as instrumental as anyone in the Pacers' success. Miller, despite his age, should start not only because of his previous contributions to the team, but also his range which is needed to keep defences from ganging up on O'Neal and Artest.
There you go Jacko the money you've been waiting for, 44 million over 6 years? congrats my man You just got paid If Carlisle starts Reggie ahead of Sjax, he needs to be fired (again )

It was nice to get rid of harrington AKA minutes! now we can get Bender some time in the rotation, but like it says on pacers.com we maybe have a problem matching up with the bigger guys in the EAST including SHAQ!
