Hello, I just walked away from my somputer for a quick break I turned on my local sports network just in time. Shaq has reportedly approve the trade of him to Miami for Lamar Odom, Brian Grant, and either Butler or Jones. He was quoted as saying he would like to play for Pat Riley(still in front office) because of the way he affectively used Kareem during his stay in L.A. But does Shaq's approval mean anything to the Lakers front office?

Yea, I saw this. It was on ESPN earlier today and it's been on the Bottomline all day also. Always good to know that the person you're trading is accepting the trade. But, yea, I fully expect this trade to go down. The salaries between the 3 Miami is giving up, which is most likely to be Butler, Odom, and Grant, for the most part match up with the salary of Shaq. I'm thinking that at some point next week this trade will be made official. Granted something else could happen, I do think this is the trade the Lakers were looking for. They get a couple of young players in Odom and Butler and a descent center/power forward in Brian Grant. Plus, the thing they like, it sends him out East, and that was one of the big things they wanted when trading Shaq.

I think this trade will go down. However I think they will send 2 future 1st round picks instead of Caron.

No, not likely. In order for this trade to go down, it has to have three players in it. The third would either be Butler or the rookie Wright. If a third player isn't involved in this trade, the salaries don't match up. That's why the initial one of Odom, Grant, and a future first rounder was put to rest because the salaries wouldn't match up. Because, since Shaq is slated to make around $29 mil next year, Grant is making around $14 and Odom is making somewhere around $9 mil I believe, they still needed that 3rd player in there to make this trade work, and it's already pretty much a given that that 3rd player will be Butler.

If so, I will be forced to change my favourite team to Miami, I would love to see Wade and Shaq on the same team
