If you had to make the choice to keep either kidd, jefferson, or Kmart who would you keep? Which two would you keep? Which one would you keep? Why would you keep them? Why woud you release them?

kmart. he is the bigger of the three. he plays defense and we all know defense wins titles.(yes kidd is a great defender also). kenyon also has low post presence and can run the court for a big guy. he is an emotional leader and that can bring a team to a whole other level. he plays his butt off every game, his shots may not fall and may get fouls called on him,but when he is in, he goes at it full speed. not to mention he is young and already has been to the finals and knows what it takes to win. i love all 3 the same, but kmart brings some things that rj/kidd do not bring. then again rj/kidd bring things kmart doesnt too.

I'd keep Kidd, mainly because he's the teams leader. All 3 are outstanding players, all could be on the All-Star roster next season, but you go with the PG, Kidd. He's been a great leader since he came to NJ and have done so much for him. An all around terrific gaurd, most complete PG in the game right now. I mean every night he's out there he's a triple-douple threat. Sure he's not an explosive scorer and shoots a little lower than others, but he does a lot to help out the Nets. He's a terrific passer, lead the league in assists this past season. He's a great rebounder for his size. Only needs to improve scoring but I have no problems with Kidd.

Kidd is by far the best point guard in the game(and for me to say that alone shows how much respect I have for what he has done for the Nets, especially since I grew Up praising Sam & he is my all-time favorite PG since Florida State days and I dont normally take any other PG in higher regard then him, but Jason Kidd from a respect factor is held in the same regards for me,of course he isnt on the same favorite personal level as being my favorite player). I just had to say that because I dont want people to ever get confused that I have any hate toward Kidd what so ever, there was that confusion in another thread where I stated who I would rather build around.

    Now back to the topic...

Who would I keep? I think its pretty clear that I feel the Nets need to look toward the future when making this type of decision which means building around K-Mart & Richard Jefferson, which leaves Kidd as the odd man out unfortunately. With RJ & Martin once they both reach their pick in a season or so, there isnt going to be a Power forward/wing player combination in the east & probably in the league thats going to come even close to touching them, especially now that the Boozer/Lebron combo has broken up. With the right parts around them, that RJ/K-Mart combo has the potential to be something real serious deal with, it shouldnt be broken up under any circumstances.

    In order.

Kidd - will lead any team to the playoffs for another three or four seasons. MVP Candidate. Has proven himself as a winner time and time again. He just refuses to lose. He hits big shot after big shot, makes all the right passes and plays cool. He gets everyone involved and I never question his decision making.

RJ - His development is phenomenol. He's emerging as one of the top swingman in the league and has proven to able to lead the Nets with a bunch of scrubs. He's a vocal leader as well when he called out the veterans to step up and bring their game. Rogers responded and was getting great numbers for awhile. To me that's just proven how much of leader he is. He's a throwback swingman of the past. He shoots around 50%, drives as much as he can, and doesn't settle for the three pointer like so many new guys are.

Kenyon Martin - Now don't get me wrong, Martin is a favorite of mine and I'll always defend him, but he has yet to show me how good of a player he is. He's running out of time and he needs to bring a better game. He dominates poor pathetic Eastern teams but when it comes big frontcourt teams, he settles for mediocrity. He wants a max contract, and he's not a max player. If he signs with Denver or ATL for the max, let him go. I think it'll be best and the Nets don't match it and get stuck with an overpaid player getting mediocre numbers. Don't get me wrong, he's anchors the defense and plays with a lot of bravado, but he doesn't show more than superficial heart. I am unsure if he's a winner yet. He needs to prove that before he gets a max contract.

I agree with everything you said...Id like to add also. The fact that RJ...Does so many things..Yet people say hes overated...They say its because of "Kidd" that RJ looks good... offense to my main man Kidd but RJ has held hos own inthis league..Look how many times he come up clutch for us..Weather it be a steal..A block..Or a shot...Hes a very good talent and he will continue to improve!

If you're looking into the future, I'd take KMart. Quality big men who can both play offense and defense are very hard to come by.

But I do agree that RJ would be a stud in the coming years. 20-5-5 is my bet.

Id keep RJ because he is an exciting player. Kidd is getting old, and Keyon has shown he really is not committed to staying.

What are you talking about? From the start of all his contract talks, he made it clear that he wants to stay in NJ. It's not his fault that somebody is offering him the max contract to be on their team. THis is not a case of KMart wanting to be a Net next season coz it's obvious that he does. It's a case of the Nets wanting to keep KMart for next season.

Maybe you are right, but if the Nets and Nuggets offer the same amount, who is he going to play for? I heard that was the situation and now the Nets are trying to sign and trade for Nene.

If the Nuggets offer the max and the Nets match it, then KMart will be a Net next season because he's a restricted free agent. That's the beauty that the Nets have. It will be their choice how badly they want to keep KMart.

Well any way you look at it if they dont match or do a sign and trade the team will lose out on getting players for him or lose on of their top players. Somebody make a real offer to KMart and lets see if Ratner will allow the match cause once that offer is out there, there will be no more sign and trade.

It's a good thing that the Nuggets are having 2nd thoughts about offering him the max. But still, there are the Hawks. Whatever happens, he'll get his max contract. I just hope that Ratner will be the one writing the check for it.

Oh and I hope that the Nuggets doesn't give a large signing bonus coz if they did, the penny-pinching Ratner will have a hard time deciding if he'll be willing to match.
