<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A source tells ESPN's David Aldridge that free agent forward Antonio McDyess is close to a deal with the Detroit Pistons that would pay him up to $30 million over five years. A league source told ESPN Insider's Chad Ford on Saturday night that the deal is actually guaranteed for four years and $23 million, with the final year becoming guaranteed if McDyess plays a minimum of 60 games in the fourth year of the deal.</div> I believe Paxson had expressed interest in offering our MLE to McDyess if Boozer signs with Utah. I figured something like this would happen though and that McDyess would probably command a little more than the MLE. Considering McDyess' recent injury history, Detroit is taking a bit of a risk with a deal of this length. Despite the loss of Okur, I'm not sure they needed to take this action. I hope Paxson will take a look at Stromile Swift with our MLE. I know that Memphis says they will match offers at that price, but it's still worth a try. Stromile Swift is probably the best realistic choice here. Im sure Swift would like to be somewhere where he can start and not play behind Gasol.
in my opinion i dont think the Pistons should offer Antonio a big contract untill they have seen him play well during a full season. i mean thats alot of money to throw out on a limb. But the thought of Big ben and Antonio (at full ) banging in the post is quite salivating.
No doubt that Dice at 100% can be a force. But I wonder if he will ever be 100% again, or even close to it. He's already 30 and has played in just 52 games over the last 3 seasons. Besides, I still think Sheed is going to stay in Detroit. This is a premature move, and a risky one regardless. Darko could've been given more PT in Okur's absence.
