<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Call him what you want -- in Cleveland, the popular choice right now is backstabbing, double-crossing, money-grubbing Judas -- but Carlos Boozer believes he did nothing wrong by accepting the Jazz's $68-million offer sheet last week.
And he's hurt by the avalanche of criticism suggesting that he did.
Boozer, freed at his request from a minimum-salary contract by the Cavaliers on July 1, declined to comment Saturday on the storm of controversy that erupted Thursday after he agreed to leave Cleveland and sign with the Jazz next week.
But a source close to the 22-year-old forward said Boozer's conscience is clear. "He did not make a commitment or a promise to the Cavs," the source said. Reaching, or even negotiating, an agreement before July 1 is prohibited by NBA rules, and Boozer and his agent, Rob Pelinka, were "not willing to do anything illegal," the source insisted. </div>

There's no way Paxson and Gund would have let Boozer out of his contract if they did not get a strong impression that Boozer was going to take their MLE deal, the max they could offer. In addition, Boozer was quoted over and over about how much he loved Cleveland, felt a loyalty to Cleveland, and wanted to stay.

Let me put it this way. Does anyone honestly think that Boozer and his agent came to them and said "Look, I don't want you to pick up my option for this year. I want you to let me be a free agent. Now I know all you can offer me is the MLE, and that a few other teams can offer me a lot more than that. So I can't promise you that I will resign with you," and then they STILL let him out of his contract? That is what they try to make it sound like. But if that were the case, there is no way that Gund and Paxson would have let him out.

Boozer also says he "originally intended to stay in Cleveland." If this were true, he would have immediately made a verbal commitment to the Cavs on July 1, when it was allowed under the CBA. But instead he ran off to hear the other offers, knowing they would all be more than the Cavs could offer. And his agent, Pelinka... you think he didn't know Boozer would get bigger offers? It's a bigger payday for Pelinka now too. He was probably planning this for months.

Boozer should just admit that all he cares about is the money and move on. He's going to have to live with what he did either way. No one is buying this stuff Boozer and Pelinka are trying to sell us. Even other GMs and other agents think it's horrible. They knew what they were doing all along.

I bet he is going to cry...all the way to the bank. I don't think the Cavs would be as stupid as to let Boozer off of his contract so easily.

If Boozer was telling the truth the conversation would probably be like this:

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Cav's Management:</div><div class="quote_post">"Hey Carlos, you are a pretty important part of this team....so we are releasing you. You deserve more than playing for 5 million. Why wait for one year to get a big deal when you can get one this summer from another team? Don't worry about us, just think about yourself for a change"</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Carlos Boozer:</div><div class="quote_post">Aw gee thanks guys. Good luck in the future, too bad I couldn't stay, I just love money too much.</div>
AFter the deal I could probably see Carlos Boozer going to his agent and saying "I'M RICH BIATCH!!!"

<font size="1">Sorry for the sarcasm, I just don't like him as a person anymore. Without your word, you are nothing.</font>
