This is a pretty good read. It gives us more of a perspective on whats going on. Please FIRE Peddie! Read it here http://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/columnist.jsp?...712_140527_2768
great find raptor_dc. this franchise problem is richard peddie. He knows nothing of basketball and this organization is a hockey organization. until that is realized and fixed, the raps will never win a championship. NEVER! Fortunately, firing peddie may be close. as for vince, i believe he will stay here for now. if he doesnt play like he should be playin and with heart, i would get rid of him. it prolly be better for both sides.
you're quick DC... It's a tough sell to try to convince the heads to get rid of one of their own... but I doubt there would be many opposers to Peddie's release. He just loves the camera way too much, and wants to put his uneducated (basketball-wise) stamp on everything.
I read in the Toronto Sun that Vince still wants to play in TO, provided that Peddie and Jim Kelly are fired. Dang, I hope those dimwits get axed soon.
It's probably true, becasue that Nav Bhattia guy wouldn't go out and call Marty York if it was false.
Peddie is the typical CEO that doesnt know shit about the day to day operations of his the business. MLSE is in the business of making money, plain and simple, and Peddie makes them money, i wanna see him go, and hire 2 seperate ppl. 1 to run the Raptors and 1 to run the Leafs. I doubt he will get axed.
Article: Peddie predicts Peace in Raptorland Well Peddie thinks Vince will not be traded and he said under no circumstances will he step down. Frekin i wonder what it will take for him to step down... how about just firing his ass and that will bring peace to RaptorLand! Check it out: http://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article.jsp?co...713_121428_5020 <font color="red">I merged your thread with this one, same topic. -Franchise</font>
Time for Vince to Clear the Air But Bhatia said members of Carter's family told him he was never informed about the Babcock hiring and didn't learn about it until several days after the appointment. In addition, Bhatia said Carter has been led to believe that the Raptors made no efforts to pursue Nash as a free agent -- he signed with the Phoenix Suns -- or obtain Magloire in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets. Bhatia said both he and Carter were given information that Magloire and Nash had interest in joining the Raptors. "Vince was so upbeat in that meeting and after the meeting because he was under the impression that Peddie was going to do his best to upgrade the Raptors," Bhatia said. "Vince really thought there was going to be a good chance to get Magloire and Nash. He wanted them in Toronto because, as he told Peddie in the meeting, there was an obvious need to improve two positions -- the No. 1 position and the No. 5 position. He wanted Magloire and Nash because they were perfect for the positions. They're both all-stars and their friends of Vince's. The fact that they are also both Canadian would be good, he figured, because he recognized that would help the Raptors in terms of popularity in this country. He felt that the Raptors would at least go after one of Jamaal or Steve, but he now believes they haven't. I don't think that just because Vince is the star of the team, the brass has to listen to him. But saying that, I do think that Richard Peddie should be fired. He is too involved in the operations of this basketball team, and he isn't even a basketball guy. If you are involved with the team, you should either be a businessman and stick to the business side, or be a basketball man and stick to the sport side of it, he tries to do both and he is screwing things up.
i agree. He is a hockey guy. If the raps don't fire him, at least get someone else to take charge of the basketball operations and stick peddie to hockey. nevertheless, vince will play for tha raps, he doesnt want to leave toronto. he wll give babcock and mitchell a chance. all that trade talk was prolly intended so that the ownership would pay attention to the problems within the organization. i hope it is all for the best.
the problem is PEddie sticks his nose too much into the Ratpors. HE is the CEO of MLSE as a whole if I am correct, and should not make false promises. Also, please give a quote, and tell us where you got the article from next time. Here is an article relating to that. http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/S.../13/537817.html Excerpt: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> "I want to make it perfectly clear that Vince has no problem at all with (new general manager) Rob Babcock or (new coach) Sam Mitchell and that he is looking forward to playing for them," Bhatia, a Raptors season-ticket holder and Carter pal, told Sportsnet yesterday. "Vince loves Toronto and he loves the fans of Toronto. He has two condominiums in Toronto and he wants to live here for many, many more years. "But he has serious problems playing for an organization that is run by Richard Peddie. He has problems with Jack McCloskey and Jim Kelly, too." </div> EDIT: Why repost this article without a link? There was alreayd a threa dmade about this, and there was a repost about it too, enough's enough.
