The top headline on the FAN 590 20/20 sports update was that the Knicks are trying to assemble a four way trade that will see Vince Carter ending up Dallas. The main player that the Knicks are dealing, is Kurt Thomas. Nothing else was stated. The other teams involve would be the Cavs, and Warriors. It would also see Dampier ending up in NY. Not sure about the rest...just a rumour, nothing more, although it could be.
^Yeah, I heard we were supposed to end up with Jason Richardson . I hope Babcock has the sense not to do that, unless theres more to the deal.
hopefully there is more to that deal. They need a center like Dampier. If were goin to trade Vince we need an allstar right back. I heard Shandon Anderson would come to Toronto. I seriously hope not, that would just be plain horrible!!!
LINK <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kurt Thomas returned to New York late Sunday to have the cast removed from his surgically repaired right hand. He's now wondering if his visit to the doctor's office will represent his last official act as a member of the Knicks. The trade rumors that have shadowed Thomas throughout his six seasons with the Knicks are hotter than ever. One scenario would have Thomas heading to Cleveland for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. A more complicated deal would have Thomas as part of a four-team trade that would center around Vince Carter moving from Toronto to Dallas. The Knicks' side of the deal would include multiple players, with Thomas ending up in Dallas or Golden State and Shandon Anderson going to Toronto. The Knicks would be getting Antoine Walker from Dallas and Erick Dampier from Golden State. "You hear a lot of rumors so maybe something is going to happen," Thomas said yesterday. "I have no idea if I'm going to be here. I just know that when training camp starts, wherever I am, I'm going to be in great shape." Knicks president Isiah Thomas is working on several deals, all of which seem to include trading away veteran players who either did not like working for Thomas or playing with Stephon Marbury or both. Those players include Kurt Thomas, Anderson, Dikembe Mutombo and Othella Harrington. Toronto and Dallas are recruiting several teams in an effort to deal Carter to the Mavs. The Knicks can only get involved if the trade for Chicago's Jamal Crawford falls through, which is entirely possible. The Knicks are offering a package of Anderson, Harrington, Frank Williams, Cezary Trybanski and Moochie Norris for Crawford, Eddie Robinson and Jerome Williams. Chicago is insisting on Dikembe Mutombo instead of Norris and the stalemate is threatening to kill the deal. The Knicks may attempt to sign Crawford to an offer sheet but there are several factors working against them. Crawford is a restricted free agent and the Bulls have the right to match any offer. The Knicks are over the salary cap, so the maximum they can offer Crawford is $40 million over six years. In the proposed sign-and-trade deal involving the Knicks and Bulls, Crawford would receive $60 million over six years. In other words, Crawford essentially would be agreeing to a $20 million pay cut. </div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting banks3:</div><div class="quote_post">LINK</div> Shandon Anderson...please God NO!! He's no where in the vacinity of Vince Carter. It would be a stupid trade!!
they better not make this trade or I'm going to seriously consider not supporting the Raptors anymore
Haha, the proposed trades have never ceased to amaze me. ANOTHER team is forcing US to be involved in a trade in order for THEM to get their trade through? Sounds like Will Ferrell created this proposed trade.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Duece~2:</div><div class="quote_post">If Carter couldn't dunk, he wouldn't be better than Shandon Anderson, so come on!</div> But the problem is, VINCE CAN DUNK!!!! However, I'm sure that the Raptors would get more than Anderson, at least Antoine Walker. Despite that, I still don't like the trade.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Duece~2:</div><div class="quote_post">If Carter couldn't dunk, he wouldn't be better than Shandon Anderson, so come on!</div> If Carter couldn't dunk, shoot, pass and be a franchise player he's be no better than Andreson. Also before you dunk you do need to beat your man don't you? I don't see anyone getting the ball at the three point line and just taking off for a dunk If Shaq couldn't dunk, hit a hook shot, dominate, and wasn't 300+ pounds, he'd just be Steven Hunter. If Wade couldn't dunk, pass, and take it to the basket well he'd just be Tierre Brown.
Yea and if Erick Dampier couldnt block, grab boards, and score inside, than he'd just be a Robert Archibald
as babcock said, he wouldnt trade vince unless the raptors get another star calibur like vince and anderson is not so i dont expect that to happen. but if that does happen that would be the stupidest thing that would ever happen.
If that idiotic trade goes through i would honestly go to straight up to Rob Babcock and give him a big slap in the face along with a swift kick in the ass.
it won't happen 1 on 1. Because first off, salaries don't match (Carter's salary is about $ 12 million next season and Anderson's is about $8 million. Secondly, who the hell is Shandon Anderson? and finally because this rumour is nothing but just a rumour based on the fact that it speculated Raptors' interest in Shandon Anderson. Come on now, anybody in their right mind can figure out that if the Raptors were going to trade Carter, they will DEMAND a starting centre, not an overpaid worse-than-backup guard/forward.
If they trade vince carter in this crazy deal... i will never watch another raptor game again... even though cb4 is my man...but vc15 wuz and still is the franchise until cb4 develops!
I read in the Toronto Metro that we would probably get Mutombo, Kurt Thomas and Alan Houston if Vince gets traded. Hmm...... I dunno. Those 3 players have huge contracts and aren't on par talent-wise. I really don't want Vince traded this year, cuz if he does get traded there'll be no one to lead the team. I mean Vince isn't a leader half the time but he's the glue that keeps the team together and gives them a chance to win every night. Please Babs, don't use Vince just to get a second-tier big man!
