Much to my regret.....Saban is gone from LSU.

But I am very happy for him. I think he will do a great job.

Looks like my second favorite team behind the cowboys are now the dolphins.

I'd like to say I'm excited but really don't know anything about Saban. I am not sure about turning over total control of football decisions to him. Being a friend and disciple of Belichick does negate some of that worry.

I am curious to know what his offensive philosophy style is? Its obvious that Feidler is gone. Feeley & Rosenfels should both be given a shot to be the #1 QB.

I hope Bates will be retained as D Co-ord. What is Saban's D style i.e. How much will it mirror Belichicks?

My predicition for 05 is at the very least Miami will return to at least .500

I also know nothing about Saban's system....I do hope he retains Bates and they run a defense similair to the Patriots....

I think he'll do well, he's a great coach, but so was Spurrier..

I just hope, for the Dolphins' sake, that Saban has a plan to fix that awful salary cap situation. I expect to see an extremely busy offseason in the front office with cuts, trades, contract re-structures and draft day deals. Things are going to be interesting in Miami.

Saban's DEF is very similar to New England's. And in regards to Spurrier...Saban has coached in the NFL before, Spurrier didn't. So it will hopefully be different than that situation. Maybe he should go after Rohan Davey (Tom Brady's back-up)

I think the style is a given. Can you imagine Jason Taylor as an OLB in an occasional 3-4? Saban would be nuts not to keep Bates IMO.

Were I to guess, Speed & unconventionality will be emphasized on both sides of the ball.

Dolphins + Saban = Lombardi Trophy in '07??

You never know. If they can get a top back to establish the run, they could be easily be better than .500.

the dolphins have a the "A" players on D, and some really good players on Offense, all they needed was a decent coach to bring them together.

spurrier was a good coach, but he never established a running game. i dont know how Saban coaches, but im sure he has a better plan than spurriers plan. what was it, fun n gun or something?

How could he possibly do any worse than the Vanilla one? You never know whether or not a college coach can make the transition sucessfully, but I bet Dolphin fans will be glad for at least a change in scenery and an attempt to turn the tides.

Dave Wannstedt=Scared of his own shadow
    Nick Saban=Cocky

that change alone is worth all the money they have to pay him....

I Agree. Stoops is cocky. Martz is arrogant. Wanny was & is clueless.

I think the change will do Miami a world of good and am anticipating an interesting offseason.

How could you not be cocky, yet demand total control of a football team when no one else has made it work?? I think cocky is a good thing for a football coach, maybe the word is confident....

I think Saban could be described as a demanding and perfectionist. Cocky & arrogant have negative connotations IMO. The impression I get is he's very similar in temperment & personality to his good friend Bill Belichick.

I just read Saban's press conference on the team's website. I am impressed.

I am not an optimist but I say Dolphins hoist the Lombardi trophy in Feb of 2007. 2008 at the latest.
