I am sick and tired of all you guys who hate Carter. Im a big of him and hate when people put him down because he gets injured often. Its not his fault he gets injured. He is one of the best players in this league, HE is a franchise player. Stop disrespecting him
Could have been one of the best players in the league...but, I really wouldn't say he is right now. I like Carter...still do...but I said the same thing about Grant Hill. Hopefully, VC will bounce back from all the times he's had to sit the bench and come out swinging, no matter what team he ends up on in the long run.
VC is one of the most overrated players in the NBA. Dnt get me wrong hes good and all but not as good as all these VC fan boys say he is. He leads his team and I guess the team is built around him but I say theres a lot of better players to build your franchise around.
The only people that overate Vince are the people that say he's overated. He only missed 9 games last year. Many of the stars in the league missed the same or more games than him. He's not as explosive, and still very good. I would take him ahead of many other players in the league. He's a top 15 player IMO.
tell me how he is overrated, the team is built around him. Most people like him just because he can dunk, but he can also shoot pass, without Vince the Raptors are nothing.
Hes clutch.. He can shoot.. He has GOOD Fundementals probably just or if not better than Kobe's..(Kobe Fan here) He can handle the rock and pass...And he attacks the rim..Hes not afraid of contact.. His defense needs a bit of work..But the times he plays with heart hes a FEROCIOUS defender.. Now before people start talking ISH...Im not a raps or vince fan...Just sometimes people exagerate when talking about carter being a "Dunker" etc!

They were a lottery team again. Personally, I don't think Vince is a great player, but he is good. The huge thing I have against him goes with what I said earlier. Even with him this year, the Raptors sucked. To me, he's not a great leader. People always make the excuse the Raptors suck because he's injured, well, he only missed 9 games last year and they still sucked it up pretty bad. I think, if the guy is your franchise player, he should be able to lead the team to some wins. And, he's in the East. That conference, though it did win the NBA title, is still weak. If he's a great leader and everything like you people say, he should be able to at least get his team in the playoffs. And, he hasn't done that in the last couple years. That's the big reason why I think he's overrated.
Vince is underatted. Labelled as injury prone yet he missed only 9 games last season(how many did Kobe miss(who doesnt play if they get a cut finger honestly?)) Vince's passing is underated, some people even say that hes not a good shooter(shows how much, some people can only operate their mouths(fingers) and not their brains at the same time. VC is a better shooter than Kobe or Tmac. VCs defence, the raps where one of the best defensive teams in the league and if VC is bad defensively then theyd have exposed him. He blocks more shots than Kobe and Tmac. "hes only a dunker"(whens the last time he dunked 3 times in a game?(maybe even 2?)).

people who says he is overrrated says that cause everyone else just says it. they dont see him play. he can do just about anything kobe or tmac can do, and i would say he(vince) had been more clutch than anyone in the past few seasons. speaking of tmac what about him? winning only 21 games and you dont see anyone saying things about him that he's not a good leader and etc.people say that he was the only one playing, o really? how bout juwan howard, gooden, lue etc. im pretty sure they were playin as well, he(tmac) may have missed a few games but losing 19 straight is shameful. and we'll just have to see how many games that "kobe's team" will win with him playing with no shaq. well the whole point is that vince is not overrated but i think he's more underrated with his passing, shooting, defence etc.
For the people who said that even though he is good he could not lead his teams to wins. Look at what he has to work with, During the first half of the season the Raptors had davis, and williams who were good but not great. When they made the trade they were instantly good. The Raptors will get past the 2nd round next season
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ace2k2:</div><div class="quote_post">I never said he had an injury seson last season. I think he is a top 15 also.</div> I wasn't reffering to you...
How can someone who gets absolutely no credit be overrated? Come on now.. If anything, Vince has become underrated. Hes been labelled as nothing but an injury prone player who is no more than above-average. Which couldnt be further from the truth. Last year was his rebound year, and he averaged over 22.5, 4.8 and 4.8. What the hell more do you want from the guy? I mean, hes definately capable of a bit more, but hes coming off injuries, he has a lot of pressure on him, and guys like Rose, Bosh, and Marshall all need to get their shots too. Not to mention, the Raptors are NOT an offensive minded team. How many people in the league can drop 20, 5 and 5 every nite? 10? 15 tops. Vince is still an elite NBA player, depending on what you consider elite. And I expect Vince to have an even better season than he did last year. Then maybe, just maybe, he can keep the nay-sayers OFF his ass. There is NO player in the NBA more criticized than Vince Carter, and as much as I want to be angry with him for being such a mama's boy, I understand why hes like that, because he cant seem to make anyone happy. So to everyone who hates on Vince, just WATCH the guy play on a consistent basis. You can call Raptor's fans homers for sticking by the guy, but maybe its just the fact that we actually SEE him play. The dude has the ability to take over a game like the NBA's best. He plays agressive ball, and he is a great ball-handler for a small forward. The dude deserves more due.
The raptors were a .500 team and playoff bound before that bruce bowen incident sidelined vc for 7 or 8 games. I seriously think they've just had the shittiest luck in all the league for the past 3 seasons....take a look at their track record for injuries and compare that to other teams. If you've watched any decent amount of raptors games last season you would understand that vince is actually a good leader. Generally, he plays the first quarter in 2 ways (towards the end of the season, that is, it was the opposite case at the beginning where he exploded in the 4th instead). He either gets hot early and goes on a rampage, often scoring about 15 pts while dropping a few dimes, or he's cold and chooses to dish the ball. Ask chris bosh how many open looks he gets as a result of vc penetrating and breaking down the d. He may not dunk as much as he used to but he continues to drive the ball. I think he gets lazy after guys like palacio can't make an open shot too often in a game. Seriously, 75% of the plays last season ran as follows: -vc left-side isolation -vc dribbles by defender and drives toward the net -3 opposing guys clutter around the basket -vc dishes to open man -open man shoots......brick I'm sick of all the guys that say "um duh, but vince don't make his teamates bester, he bad leader!!@!1" What does he have to do....become a fricken personal shooting coach for everyone on the team?? He consistently gives them open looks and that should be good enough for players at that level. The only thing that really irked me about vince's game last season was that he was too unselfish. He would drive, have a good look and pass rather than shoot. I hope he changes this in the upcoming season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting baller_14:</div><div class="quote_post">tell me how he is overrated, the team is built around him. </div> That statement is not true at all. Salary-wise the Raptors may be built around VC. But their GM has not done a very good job of bringing in players that compliment his game. That's like saying that the Celts are built around PP or the 76ers around AI. That may be true, but they are not very successful teams.
Calling Vince Carter and legitimate franchise player is like calling Ray Allen a legitimate franchise player. Great players to watch when they're on song, put up nice numbers at their peak, but not the sort of player you want to build a team around. Vince is a nice player, he brings in the fans, but a lot of his fans have false hopes about him when ideally, you would rather pair him with an inside guy who can become a go to man. Hopefully Chris Bosh is that guy.
