    Ely & House Acquired

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Charlotte Observer reported for Wednesday's edition that the Clippers will trade forward Melvin Ely ($1.75 milion) and guard Eddie House ($825,000) to the expansion Charlotte Bobcats for future second-round draft picks.

ESPN.com reported earlier Tuesday that the Clippers would have to move Ely and House's salaries to get far enough under the cap to offer Bryant a six-year, $106.3 million deal -- the most any team (other than the Lakers) can sign him to.

In an effort by the Clippers to clear cap space and sign Kobe Bryant, the Bobcats took advantage and acquired two young players, Melvin Ely & Eddie House. These are two nice additions by the Bobcats. Ely is a talented big man who can get up and down the court, and Eddie House is a scoring machine.

I like the signing of Eddie House. As you said, he is a great scorer.

Well the Clippers must know something everyone else doesn't about the Kobe situation. If that's not the case, then yeah a very stupid move. Ely is a big man able to play either center or power forward (not to mention a former lottery pick), and yet they give him up for only a 2nd round pick?

Good move for Charlotte though. Even better move for the Clips if they do get Kobe...
