http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1839616 42 mils over 6 years, and I assume that it's 32 mils over 5 years with 10 mils team option at the end. Not a bad signing at all...
Golden State center Adonal Foyle (UNR) staying with the Warriors for $42 million over six years. Now thats more like it!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">I think its actually $42m over 5 years, with a 6th year team option for $10m that year.</div> Well, ESPN reported his deal as 42 mils/6 years, and in most cases, they include team/player option when they announce the deal. So, I really hope it's 42/6 and 32/5. I want to sleep more than 3 hours per day...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN also reported 5 years $42m last week. So which one is for sure? I do not know...</div> <font size="3"><font color="navy">Well since this is the first day that the actual contracts can be signed I'm more inclined to believe today's announcment. Before that it was mearly speculation.</font></font>
I'm astounded that there can be this much confusion over the size of a contract. How hard is it for reporters to get the actual terms of the deal correct? I mean, I can understand there being confusion before the contract was actually signed, but now that the contract is signed, shouldn't it be easy for Chad Ford or whoever is reporting the contract to get the actual terms right? Especially since there was confusion as to the terms prior to the contract's signing? Oh well, hopefully its for 32/5 with a team option for the 6th year. This would mean Foyle would get 5.8 mil the first year and 8.7 mil the last year...that's not that bad.
Definately a relief if it is 32/5. Not only would it be a relief, but it would also be a pretty damn good deal, considering what other bigmen have gotten this offseason!
Lesson learned: Don't freak out until its official. For all we know Foyle could have pulled a Boozer which wouldn't be that bad actually. Nah I love Foyle. Underrated guy.
From Adonal - <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I?m not going to be fake and say that financial compensation wasn?t a consideration. It certainly was. And I?ll be the first to put that out there. But if I really wanted maximum money, I could have gone to some other team, so the money wasn?t the main issue. As soon as teams were free to talk to free agents, my phone probably rang every ten minutes for the first four days. And that?s not an exaggeration. </div> Link I'll always like this guy, he's always friendly and genial, I'd bring my kids (if I had them) to see him, ya know?
He is one of the few athletes in all of sports that I would believe when he said "It wasn't all about the money."

That's why lots of times they're not exact figures and only specualation.
Usually it's the agents or players themselves who leak the contract information. They usually do this to say, "Hey, I'm worth this much." Other times, they're just friendly answering the reporters' questions. Actual teams never reveal that information, although obviously they don't go to huge lengths to classify it either.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Warriors re-signed center Adonal Foyle, who will make $41.6 million over the next five seasons. Though Foyle has been a defense-minded backup during seven seasons, the Warriors expect bigger things. He probably will start with Erick Dampier leaving via free agency. ``The money was nice, but it came down to a gut feeling about where you're going to be successful,'' Foyle said. Foyle, the eighth pick in the 1997 draft, spurned offers from Boston, Orlando and Milwaukee after conversations with the Warriors' new management team: executive vice president Chris Mullin, General Manager Rod Higgins and Coach Mike Montgomery. ``My coming back here has a lot to do with my confidence in those guys,'' Foyle said. ``I think this team is going to be a good team and this organization is going in the right direction. I feel fortunate to be a part of that.''</div> <div align="center"> http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ors/9159029.htm </div>
That was it Rudeezy. So what do you guys think since it is 5 years at $42m? Is that really that big of a difference?
Nightmare... coming back... No wonder I couldn't sleep more than five hours today. 2 mils per year difference between 5/42 and 6/42 and a big difference, and teams give up picks to shed 2 mils salary. Foyle was relatively overpaid at 6/42 to begin with. 5/42? Ugh. I am still hoping that it's 6/42...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Eclipse:</div><div class="quote_post">sometimes teams won't announce the exact terms of the contracts because they don't always want it known to the public. That's why lots of times they're not exact figures and only specualation.</div> I understand that its the Warriors team policy not to disclose the terms of a contract, but I've never seen this much speculation about what a contract's terms were. Every single article I've read yesterday and today has reported a different contract. In some its 5 years in others its 6 years, and the contract amount has ranged from 40 mil to 42.6 mil, sometimes with a team option, sometimes without. It's ridiculous, especially considering that amount of controversy this contract has caused. Foyle's agent should just leak to Chad Ford or someone else the actual terms of the deal so we can be done with it.
