I hope it does happen. Marion is overrated. Period. His jump shot is pure crap! Give me Wally who actually has a jump shot and a decent defender.

Im sorry dont been to sound rude, but are you high or something? Marion over rated? In the nba all star game when the west coach needed someone to play defense on michael jordan the greatest ever to stop him from making a game winning shot who did he put in? Marion.

He is possible one of the most all around players in the nba he developed his dunking skills when he ran the break with phonex with j-kidd then when marbury came he saw he had to improve his jumper to get points because marbury was a setup guy not a fast break running guy like kidd. So he improved his three point shot to be one of the best in the league look at his field goal percentage I think it is in the high 40's or low 50's. He is one of the most under rated nba players.

Wally on the other hand he is not the greatest defender. He is no were near marions defensive level. If the wolves make this trade which I think they wont since it hasent been heard about on any web site or on any local paper or anything they would be getting a steal.

Yeah his shot is just straight ugly. Just throwns the ball and cocks his arms back. Not sure how he makes them.

But calling Marion overrated because of his shot is just wrong. Sure his shot is ugly, but is his all-around game good? Hell yeah it is. He's one of the best all-around players in the league. He does something in every single category and he's a player I know I'd love to have on a team. Sure Wally is a good shooter and scorer, but is he as good as Marionis on defense? Is he more of a complete player than Marion is? Nope. I'd take Marion over Wally anyday of the week simply because Marion does it all and Wally is just a shooter.

Are you crazy... Marion is a player that can get 20 points and 10 assisti a game.. Which is great in this game. Overrated? Man he is underrated if anything. He is a good solid player and is definately not overrated.

Bad trade for the Phoenix Suns. Shawn Marion is much better than Wally Szcerbiak. Shawn Marion is top 15 players in the league. Jake Voskul hasn't even come close to his prime yet. (Not saying it's going to be anything special.)

Also that second and first round draft pick would not be very high if Marion was there or not. The wolves are at least going to make it past the first round of the playoffs, so all that Phoenix could do with that draft pick would be to hope for a steal.

If I were Minnesota I would take this trade in a heart beat. Shawn Marion, Sam Cassel, Kevin garnett, and Latrell Sprewell with the addition of a center, (Maybe they will pick up a free agent center or they could use one of the ones they have now.) Minnesota would be unstopable. Kevin Garnett and Shawn Marion can both draw double teams from any team, leaving shooters like Sam Casell, Latrel Sprewell, Troy Hudson and Fred Hoiberg open. That 1-2 punch would kill. Don't forget Sam Cassel just had a great season last year.

Phoenix isn't dumb, they won't take this trade, but if it were offered, Minnesota shouldn't even think about it.

To say that Marion is overrated is waaaay too uneducated IMO. BTW Wally will never even be half of the defender that Marion is.

He scores points, grabs a ton of boards for a guy his size, blocks shots, steals the ball and shoots threes. Other than KG and Kirilenko, who can do that on a regular basis?

    Stat line:

    19.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.11 steals, 1.2 blocks per game

Marion may not be a star but he is putting up star type numbers. This guy was also rated 3rd in terms of productivity and efficiency in the NBA. Beat that.

I heard of underrating Marion, I have never heard of him being overrated though.

    draft pick

the minnesota timberwolves DO have a draft pick next year (2005) and EVERY year following, unless they get penalized again. the lauge gave back the 2003 pick, and the 2005 pick, so it is now 100% over, there r NO MORE penalties on the wolves draft picks
