http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...articleid=35704 There's alot of enlightening things in this article. It should also help reassure some folks that Danny and Doc aren't as bad for this team as they might think. Here are some good excerpts: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">``I know what the easy thing to do is,'' Pierce said. ``You've got the Tracy McGradys and the Vince Carters saying, `Just trade me to a team where I can win a championship.' You know, that sounds so good when you say it. </div> Shot at his fellow "superstars" anyone? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> ``Then I was thinking about where I'm at and how frustrating things got last year. . . . You know, it has crossed my mind. Me and my agent talked about it. We talked about (asking for) a trade.'' But Pierce then made a trip. The Truth went looking for some truth. The same guy who is here this week establishing a residence in Nevada to avoid state taxes (``Hey, baby, that's 6 percent I'm saving'') reached into his pocket for a flight to Orlando. ``I went down there a couple of weeks ago to just hang with Doc,'' said Pierce, referring to new coach Doc Rivers. ``I just wanted to spend some time with him and talk about things. It was real good. He talked about the way he wanted to use me and the things he expects from me. It was great. I mean, after hearing what he had to say, I have a lot of confidence in Doc and what we can do with this team. ``Then (Tuesday) I had a talk with Danny (Ainge) and he gave me some good reassurances about what we're doing. Last year was just so hard. I know I don't ever want to go through anything like that again. There were things happening that I really didn't understand at the time. But hearing it from Danny really helps now. I can see what he wants to do. </div> Nice comments about what's going on behind the scenes. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> ``So I'm here for the long term. I signed the big contract because I want to be here, and I bought a house back there last summer. I'm willing to deal with whatever comes up.'' </div> <font color="DarkRed"><font size="1">(**Gospel Minister Voice**)</font></font> Speak the Truth Brother! Tell it to the Mountains! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Pierce acknowledges he didn't deal well with changes that defined the 2003-04 Celtics season. He publicly and privately endorsed the deals the team made, then complained when the team began spinning out in February. </div> So much for the rumors that said otherwise. <u>On how he dealt with changes:</u> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">``I think I did allow all those things to get to me,'' he said. ``I can't sit here and tell you I just went out and did my job and didn't let those things affect me. They did. ``But, man, it was a hard year. No team or player should ever have to go through a year like that. We traded something like nine guys and then the coach resigned. When that happened, it left the team with no direction. I think I put too much pressure on myself at that point. `<font color="DarkGreen">Now, after talking to Danny and Doc, I've got some confidence back.'' </font> </div> <font color="DarkRed"><font size="1">(**Gospel Minister Voice**)</font></font> Testify, Brother Truth! Share the good word with the Celtic Nation. Can I get a AMEN?! ____________________________________ In all seriousness, This is why Paul Pierce is a great player. He doesn't give up, even when things get hard for him.
Thas what im talking about. I have to give him and Reggie props they stayin where they came from, not demanding trades, or leaving.
Wow, great article, and it's great to read these words directly from Pierce rather than rely on management saying this is how Pierce felt. I look forward to not hearing any new Pierce trade rumors, and look forward to watching him finish his career a Celtic.
now all celtic fans can relax about the rumours. great article, Pierce has one thing most stars don't have, dignity.
