i think this will be a serious blow to k-marts game, without kidd, he won't be doing as good as he had been doing with the nets.
Done deal <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The New Jersey Nets have agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Denver Nuggets that will send power forward Kenyon Martin to Denver in exchange for three future first-round draft picks, the Nets announced Thursday The picks coming from Denver include one of the Nuggets' own first-rounders, as well as a first-round selection from the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers that the Nuggets acquired in past deals. According to the Nets, included are the Clippers' first-round pick in 2005 (protected for overall picks 1 through 14) or '06, the 76ers' first-rounder in '05 (protected for picks 1-8), '06 (protected for picks 1-5) or '07, and Denver's first-rounder in '06 (protected for picks 1-5), '07 (protected for top two), or '08. Martin is expected to receive a seven-year deal worth more than $90 million from New Jersey before he is shipped to Denver. Denver is able to take on Martin without having to trade any payroll back because it is far enough under the cap to absorb Martin's first-year salary -- nearly $11 million if Martin gets the anticipated deal. The Nuggets will still have salary cap space remaining after the trade, though the exact amount will be determined by the structure of Martin's new contract.</div> Nets acquire three first-round picks
damn this sucks. Sad day in nets franchise history. But now we have to look to the future and see what we can get in free agency
Does any one know what the status of the Nets bringing in Nenad Kristic are? Think that they need to bring him over desperatly considering the power forward void.
Nenad Krstic might be a star that we don't know, he is tall 7"11. KMart without Kidd won't perform that well, we must wish Jefferson + Kidd + Krsitc the JKK line be very strong.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nenad Krstic might be a star that we don't know, he is tall 7"11.</div> I think that's a typo unless I missed something and he grew a foot. I hope for the latter cause it would be nice to have a near 8 foot center with athleticism.
great move...let me tell ya...trade a star in kenyon for nuttin but draft pics...i dont understand that!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ravenous:</div><div class="quote_post">great move...let me tell ya...trade a star in kenyon for nuttin but draft pics...i dont understand that!</div> You Knick fans dont understand notin', have some patience and there are going to be players better than Martin ending up on the Nets. The Nets got Martin, Jefferson, Kittles, and many more <font color="Red">through the draft</font>!
The KMart fan is me is happy that he's going to the Nuggets. It's because I'm sick and tired of some guys saying that his game will suffer without Kidd. tsk tsk. But of course, it's a sad day for a Nets fan. I wish him all the luck and I hope that a few years from now, we'll get something close to equal of KMart via the draft.
Yea, this is definitely a chance for Kenyon to prove all his doubters wrong. He now has the opportunity to show everyone that he CAN have success without Jason Kidd. I think he'll do it. And, I wish him the best of luck as a Nugget.
Interesting... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In exchange for Martin, who was signed for $90 million over seven years and immediately traded to Denver, the Nets received three first-round draft picks spread over at least two seasons -- a trio of yet-unnamed players whose greatest value to the franchise will likely come when it has moved to Brooklyn in four or five years. It's a long-term strategy that has the Nets' 31-year-old franchise player, Jason Kidd, thinking about demanding a trade rather than playing for a franchise that let its best defender and emotional leader leave over a matter of money.</div> Link Rat's thinking of how to make money for his new complex already.
::shakes head:: i agree with J Kidds agent the Nets aren't serious about winning anymore cuz if they were they would not of gotten rid of KMART....this has got to be hands down the worst deal EVER for the nets....i don't get it....i mean i thought for sure that the nets would do anything and everything they could to keep KMART...but.... on the flip side...the Nuggets are gonna be pretty damn hot next season...big guys like Camby...Kenyon....Carmelo....and they still got Nene....wow....i think Denver is gonna be straight ballin next year....hopefully for their sake anyway....and im tranferring to a Denver school....so now i can see them all play....what a great world we live in
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ice ice BIBBY:</div><div class="quote_post">this has got to be hands down the worst deal EVER for the nets</div> In fact, it's one of the worst trades in NBA history.
All I know is that Jersey lost out big time on the Kenyon trade. 3 first round picks???? Denver now has the best front court. Martin, Camby, and Anthony. Plus, nene as a backup.
