Wizards Spoil Dwight Howard's Vegas Debut

The Washington Wizards shot a sizzling 55 percent for the game to beat the Orlando Magic 111-94, spoiling Dwight Howard?s Reebok Vegas Summer League debut.
Howard, the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, collected 7 points (2-7 FG) and 11 rebounds for the Magic.

Laron Profit and Jarvis Hayes led the way for the Wizards, each pouring in 20 points. Profit, helped the Wizards outscore the Magic 32-22 in the decisive fourth quarter by scoring 10 points. Profit also collected 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Jared Jeffries had 19 points and 7 rebounds for Washington, while Billy Thomas put in 13 points. Point guard Steve Blake dished out 10 assists and had 11 points on 5 of 10 shooting for the victorious Wizards.

Keith Bogans scored a Vegas Summer League best 31 points for the Magic on 14 of 19 shooting. Consensus Player of the Year Jameer Nelson displayed great court vision dishing out 8 assists for the Magic. Nelson also collected 26 points on 12 of 18 shooting.

The Magic shot 50 percent for the game, but committed 24 turnovers that led to 33 Wizards points.

Orlando, 1-1, will take on Leandro Barbosa and the Phoenix Suns tomorrow evening at 5:00 p.m. Washington, 1-1, will battle rookie Al Jefferson and the Boston Celtics tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.

Bogans was amazing. It sounds like Dwight was aggressive early, but got into foul trouble and didn't really get too many touches throughout the game. Still is a defensive and rebounding force. He will have plenty of time to practice his shooting until preseason.

Whoa Keith was incredible out there. Still don't know why some people can't believe the fact that he is putting up 20+ every night(correct me if I;m wrong). Dwight is still an aggresive force for the Magic on defense and rebounding. His jumper can improve though. Shooting 50 percent is great for us but the turnovers killed us.

I seen the game, D12 was doing great he had 5 points 5 rebs and like 3 or 4 blks in the first 5 mins. the boxscore said he had 1 block which is a lie because he had like 3 at one freaking time the dude is awesome and has unmatched athletic ability. He made a college 3 off the board on purpose! when he got 3 fouls in the first 8 mins westhead took him out and he didn't play until the 3rd qtr. After that he wasn't the same they might of told him to act like it was a real game and not foul out because he wasn't aggresive after that.he can't foul out in summer league, so I think it was plain stupid by the coach not to put him back in the 2nd qtr even the annoucers said it. They interviewed him after the game and he admitted he had a bad game and he said the main reason was because he got a little stiff after sitting out almost the whole first half. But I'm not worried about his offensive play from what I seen he has some nice post moves, he just isn't trying to score 20 a game he even said himself in the interview that points weren't important to him.
