C-Rafael Araujo PF-Chris Bosh SF-Vince Carter SG-Jalen Rose PG-Rafer Alston I think marshall wont start, but maybe the start of the season he will, and araujo will be off the bench first for a few weeks. than like bosh, will start later on the season and marshall will be off the bench, but maybe not. we'll just have to see.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think Mitchell would stick Araujo at the starting center spot, not off the bat at least anyways. We'll probably move him along just like we did with Bosh, giving him big minutes after about 10 games. On the opening day, I think it will be a lineup like this: Starters C-Bosh PF-Marshall SF-Rose SG-Carter PG-Alston Bench C-Araujo PF-Moiso SF-Murray SG-Williams PG-Palacio Personally, I don't see us matching Mo Pete's offer sheet. I know Babcock is making it out as if we'll match, but in all seriousness, would anyone pay $5 million each year for a bench player?</div> The thing is, Peterson is capable of playing as a starter. He's not a backup player like.. well let's just say Milt Palacio. $5 million a year that Hornets are going to pay him is for him to be a starter not a bench warmer (with Jamaal Mashburn ailing from injuries and possibly being forced to pre-maturely retire).. Even if the Raptors match the offer, it does not necessarily mean that Mo will stay in Toronto. Babcock can do a sign-and-trade for a player or players with the Hornets. Also, Palacio will not be the backup PG...He is too inconsistent a shooter to be a threat to the opposing team's defence and teams will simply double-team other players. So change the bench to: C-Rafael Araujo (for first 10 games or so) / Jerome Moiso / Pape Sow PF-Donyell Marshall / Jerome Moiso SF-Lamond Murray SG-Roger Mason Jr. PG-Alvin Williams
Rose will play the 3 When Rafer got signed, all I pictured was how much of a baby Jalen Rose acted like when they wouldn't let him play the point sometimes in Chicago and Indiana. Is he gonna be happy and productive playing the 3 and just a little point next year??? <font color="red">I merged your thread here because it was a duplicate. Refer to the sticky at the top of the Raptors forum for more information about duplicate threads. -Franchise</font>
Rafer Alston Vince Carter Donyell Marshall Chris Bosh Jalen Rose Yep, pretty much it. If Alvin's able to get back in shape by then... maybe that point guard position could change.

Starters: PG - Rose SG - Alvin SF - Vince PF - Donyell C - Bosh Bench: PG - Skip SG - Mo Pete SF - Lamond Murray PF - Arujo C - Moiso

Marshall will be the 6th man with Araujo at center, he's not project, he's 24, he's played competitive college ball and is ready for the NBA.
PG - Alston (as long as he is in the shape he was in last year he will be my starter) SG - Jalen (why not - he can shoot and he can help bring the ball up) SF - Vince Pf - Bosh C - Marshall (he'll bring Arujo along and maybe give his spot up eventually - I'd rather see Marshall off the bench anyway - he's getting old)
I see a lot of people putting Araujo in their starting lineup right off the bat. Im well aware hes not a project, and has 4 years of college ball under his belt.. but did you ever consider that hes not THAT talented? I guarantee that Araujo doesnt start the season at Center.. Bosh will start at Center untill Araujo is ready, then Marshall will move to the bench.

Even if he didn't get drafted by the raps that high, he would of been in the mid first round, not because of his size. He has skills to go with his size. He has an inside game, if he didnt, he wouldn't have been drafted. If you watched any of his games at BYU then you know what I'm talking about. Plus, we don't need him to score much. He'll be like Bosh's Bodyguard. Last year Bosh was getting beat up inside, making people like Curry look like Shaq. No offense to Bosh's D or anything, but he cannot guard Centers. Araujo can, he's not great at him, but he's a better option there than anyone else on the Raptors. Unless Mitchell decides to stop Bosh's development, he'll put Rafael at the Center posistion if he's a real NBA Coach.
Well him and Rose will play both the SF and SG's. Whoever is the better offensive SG or SF on the opposing team, will be the player Vince Guards

Araujo probably won't start all games at Center, but I can definitely see him starting the majority of the games, simply because we got killed in that area last year. We didnt' draft him to sit on the bench, we needed size and thats what we got. His role on this team will be about as important as Greg Ostertag's role with his days in Utah; not to score a whole lot, but to rebound, and have a big presence in the middle. This way Bosh can start at his natural position and we can have Marshall come off the bench for scoring and more rebounding. Not starting Araujo leaves us in the same hole we were in last year, which is not what this team needs. I will be surprised if Araujo doesn't start.
I think Arjuano will be a surprise just like Bosh was to most Raptor fans. I remmeber many people were moaning and groaning over a player they hadn't even seen play and then the season came and he was arguebly the 2nd-3rd best player on our team and everyone was hopping over him and saying how valueable and how great his potential is. How do you know it wont be the same for Arjuano? With Arjuana, he will only have to help out in the defence category since we have enough offensive firepower already so any points he scores is an icing. But if he can play good defence and help us out then it was a great pick. People need to be patient. Arjuano make take a couple weeks to gel in completely but after that, watch out. Bosh and Arjuano will make a sick front court in the future if thier devolpments go well (Arjuano is a 4th year college player so he should be ready to burst)
i saw one or two people left Bosh out of the starting line up? drugs are bad for you, and make you suggest silly things. donyell starts bench after rookie is used to playing nba game, bosh moves from C to PF also, vince stays SF, jrose at the 2, and Rafer at 1. now way JRose is gonna show up Rafer at PG first 1/4 nba season starters C - Bosh PF - Marshall SF - Carter SG - Rose PG - Alston last 3/4's season starters C - Araujo PF - Bosh SF - Carter SG - Rose PG - Alston
there are some misconceptions that pervade the thread about aruajo's capabilities. true araujo is a four year college standout but he spent two of those years at junior college. and as for him being 24 and having a nba developed game is preposterous. he spent the bulk of his basketball playing days in brazil competing against much inferior talent. and btw, i'm not projecting him as a failure, i just think the expectations of him need to be aligned with reality.
