Anyone agree. After we missed kobe, I think we should make a serious run on Erick Dampier-the best FA that left. We need to get more sizes and More player can play D other than Brand.Even we cant resign Q. we should offer him at least 5years 60million. Then i think CLippers will be a contender in the wild wild west as well. Here is the roster i prefer. PG. Shaun Livingston SG. ??? Anyone could fire up some 3s and play OK D will be fine. SF. Corey Maggette PF. Elton Brand C . Erick Dampier
Giving Erick Dampier a long-term deal is sketchy on so many levels. The guy had a career year in a contract year. If I had a nickel for every time that has happened. The Clippers have Chris Kaman at the center spot, who is cheaper, less volatile and a far better long-term asset than Erick Dampier who is almost 30. I think the Clippers should not match QRich's offer sheet, and make offers toward Jamal Crawford (starting at perhaps 6.5 million) or previous fan favourite Darius Miles, who is beginning to deliver upon his potential. A Clipper line-up w/ Jamal Crawford is insanely versatile, and would have them coming at you from all angles. It would also give you the option of easing Livingston into the line-up, as Crawford can easily play the 2-spot. Livingston Crawford Maggette Brand Kaman
As a dedicated Warriors fan, I can assure you that while Dampier's best year has been his contract year, there are reasons to suggest that he's reached his level of performance. He normally played with a greedy, shoot first team. He rarely even touched the ball. WHen given touches, he scores points. That's simple. His rebounding was down after a knee injury a while back. He knee is now 100 %, very strong, in fact. It's also well known in the Bay Area, not so much outside of it, that Dampier's offseason consists of him paying Clifford Ray to work on his footwork, and big man skills. He's a hard worker. I think people just see the long face and assume he's a slack.
