Has anyone heard who the Heat or Lakers might be pursuing?? I would just assume the Heat could coax a descent FA, giving him the opportunity to play with Shaq and be in title contention. Also, the Lakers are gonna need to make some moves via trade or free agency so Kobe doesn't make a fool of himself. I think that they should shop George and Fox for a center like Dampier or Ratliff.
I've heard the Heat are looking for a point guard and are also willing to spend on a veteran. I've heard free agent PG names like Damon Jones, Lindsey Hunter, Bob Sura and Mike James being thrown around as possibilities, and swingmen Calbert Cheaney or Stacey Augmon as veteran influences. As far as the Lakers, they're still waiting on a response from Medvedenko, and also have shown immense interest in PG Mike James. They are in desperate need for a big man and have various trading assets, with Rick Fox being the most notable. I've heard Vlade Divac's name being mentioned, which would be a nice addition, and he has shown interest in the squad as well. I see the Heat getting either Hunter or Jones, and adding another quality swingman or two before its all said and done. The Lakers are a MESS...but I think they'll re-sign Medvedenko, add a decent big man (i.e. Divac or Chris Mihm), and add a quality backup PG as well.
In addition, Karl Malone is mulling the Heat, the Lakers, the Spurs, or retirement. As Tripl3 said, the Heat are mainly seeking a vet PG, and Travis Best or J.R. Bremer have even been considered along with the ones mentioned above, and vet Fs Michael Curry and Robert Horry.
