He is going to be really really good, and if he wants to learn he is going to be even better than good, he'll be great. Dwight has really impressed me with what he's done in the games and off the court.

Yup, finally all this stupid KB comparison is officially dead. It's KG comparisons now. He's got the determination and skills on the court to be successful and the charisma/personality to successful off the court.

I'm willing to bet we'll be seeing commericials of him soon. [IMG]

KG's numbers the 1st 2 years of his career:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He plays like Kg without any offense.</div>

    95-96
    G: 80
    MPG:28.7
    FG%:.491
    3P%:.286
    FT%:.705
    OFF:2.20
    DEF:4.10
    REB:6.30
    APG:1.8
    SPG:1.08
    BPG:1.64
    TO:1.38
    PF:2.40
    PPG:10.4

    96-97
    G: 77
    MPG: 38.9
    FG%:.499
    3P%: 286
    FT% .754
    OFF: 2.50
    DEF: 5.60
    RPG: 8.00
    APG: 3.1
    SPG: 1.36
    BPG: 2.12
    TO: 2.27
    PF: 2.60
    PPG: 17.0

As you can see, he wasn't much of a scorer in his rookie year. Once his minutes went up to 39 he started getting better an better as the years went by.

Kinda exposed how much you know right there. [IMG]

Hi all. I'm new to this forum from a posting standpoint, but have been keeping up (sometimes several times a day) as far as reading goes. It is most interesting to see how many different opinions there in fact are. Like KB? Like KG? Like BenchWarmer Joe.... It doesn't really matter to me. I prefer to see the glass half-full, and am excited about this new team. The nice thing is that Jameer and Dwight are both excited about playing on this team, and are working hard to get themselves ready for the season. Will they be standouts this first year? Who knows? Will they be standouts ever? Who knows? All I know is that these guys are giving us something to possibly look forward to, and that speaks volumes.

First of all, welcome to JBB. If you ever have any questions be sure to send me a PM, and I'll gladly help you out.

I agree with what you said, great post. Keep it up. I wish all of the Magic posters put that much thought into their posts.

No one knows how good Dwight Howard will be, so we just have to base everything off of potential. Like you, I am just excited we are getting a fresh start without McGrady, and we're building a TEAM. Nelson was a steal, and Dwight was drafted as our future franchise player. This is one of, if not the most important draft our franchise has had thus far.

We should all be looking foward to this upcoming season. Get over the fact that we didn't draft Okafor and start enjoying Dwight. We picked him for a reason, now give him a chance!

Nor did I say he plays like the MVP KG. Don't try to get cute now. Nice try though. [IMG]

Well if you made yourself clear the first time we wouldn't be in this arguement. [IMG]

I think that as time goes by this summer, people here and Orlando Magic fans in general are seeing why we drafted Howard over Okafor in the first place. Howard is flat-out dedicated to becoming an elite player in the league. Okafor is the same way, but Howard is showing some really promising determination and initiative in not only his play, but now his practice habits. You also have to look at the fact that Howard struggled in his first game in the summer league and didn't hang his head, but went out the next game and put out a much better performance.

A strong work ethic is what we are looking for in all of our players now that Weisbrod is the GM, and I think that it can't hurt to go down that road. Will this guy play like Kevin Garnett does now? Not likely, it took Garnett a couple years to mature into the player that he is now, Howard still has a bit to learn. There are way too many variables however right now to be thinking about what kind of numbers Howard is going to put up. But by no means is this guy going to be like Kwame Brown, whose main problem was being lazy (according to some teammates including MJ).

Anyways, in summation, let's just enjoy how well Howard and Nelson, for that matter, are doing now and hope that when the pre-season comes around, that we'll get a chance to see what these guys can do against legitimate NBA players. I think that they'll both do just fine, and if you're hoping that either one fails like some people here are, well, you're not much of a Magic fan then.
