I hate to be a backstreet boy but WHY haven't the rockets made a move in the free agency when Barry and Fisher were still FREE AGENTS? Especially when Fisher stated that he was keen to join the rockets. All we needed was to add the bait. Are the rockets celebratin too much and not payin attention to the free agency ? Well fyi just because we got T-MAC doesnt mean we don't need a good point guard. Do you think van gundy will have to re-sign mark jackson oout of retirement again? Denver just got K-mart..
I really think the Rockets are waiting to long to make a move. I would really like to see damon jones and possibly vin baker on the team. I think this would give us the depth we need to really compete in the west. If you can get Baker to agree to a short reasonable contract I think he could be a steal for the rockets. I wanted Divac so he could mentor yao but not at the price he's asking. I hope they open the wallet soon though or we may be going into the season with what we have and that is only going to get us the #6 seed in the West.
no we dont need vin baker...I'm fine with a forward rotation of Howard and Taylor...but I do hope we sign Damon Jones as our PG, cuz the pickings are slim and he seems the best logical choice...
There's still one player whom we haven't thought about yet: Mike James. He was touted as saying that he would sign with any team that would pay him more than $1.6 million. He did a good job of running the starter's PG position in Boston early last season and could be the distributor we need. How about let's make a run for him?
Mike James would make a lot of sense; however, i dont think hes quite ready to run a team fulltime yet...as a backup, he would help immensely, but he still would not solve our problem at the starting PG slot...
I think James is ready to take on a starter's role. He is already a better fit to start than Lue and he could just bring the ball upcourt, give it to Yao or T-Mac and just move around on offense. He is also a very good finisher on the fast break and doesn't get a lot of turnovers. He could be perfect under JVG's system.
You're better off without Fisher. He's just a SG in a PG's body. He needed Shaq for him to create his shots and he shoots too much to be able to play with Yao and TMac. You need a Eric Snow type of PG. Although Bones would've been a good choice but obviously, you don't have chance with both players. Mike James is right now a sparkplug OFF THE BENCH. I don't see it changing this season.
