<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He was a prankster. And he loved to laugh. Unless the joke was on him. Then Manute Bol could become downright irritated.

But for the most part, "he was just fun to be around," former teammate Charles Barkley said.

The humanitarian spirit and shot-blocking ability of the center from Sudan were evident, but his time with the 76ers was also characterized by lots of laughs.

Those who knew Bol with the Sixers - he played with them from 1990 to 1993, then returned on a 10-day contract in 1994 - describe him as a great teammate.

At 7-foot-7, Bol was the subject of many one-liners by Barkley and other teammates, but he reveled in getting back at them.

"When he was here, he was a fun-loving guy who loved to play jokes on other players," said Tony DiLeo, the Sixers' senior vice president and assistant general manager, who was an assistant coach and scout at the time. "But he sometimes had a short temper when somebody played a prank on him."</div>

Really great article, as though Bol wasn't considered much of a basketball player, he was a great man. The article centers around his relationship with Charles Barkley, and his 76ers days. It's a nice read...
