According to the NY Post all Damp has to do is agree to the deal. Looks like Mully pulled the trigger...Thoughts?

I like the trade. Harringtons contract ends this year and Mohmand is a decent backup center to Foyle. I still think its infavor of the Knicks, but out of all the trade rumors, I think this one is the best becuase the warriors get some size back.

How long is Mohammeds contract, if it isn't too long this is a decent trade. He's also not that expensive too.

    I believe Nazr's contract expires in '06

At first, I was very disapointed. I wanted a Dampier package for Vince Carter, Marion, or Artest deal or maybe even bring in Bender or Al Harrington. But I guess like all the other moves Mullin has made, it's not a bad move. Nothing to really put the team over the top. The Warriors do end up with a decent center in Nazr, and they get some cap relief(contract expires after next season) with Harrington along with some size.

    Speedy/Fisher/NVE
    JRich/Pietrus
    Dunleavy/?
    Murphy/Cliff/Harrington
    Foyle/Nazr/Biedrins

It will be fun to see how Dampier survives in New York, and with out Musselman. Before Musselman; injured. After Musselman??

That doesn't sound too bad. What do you think about the trade, if it does happen.

I was interested in the Artest deal, if that were actually true.
I would like any trade that doesn't have long term contracts or a player like Artest.

I think Mullin would do this trade becuase the contracts are short, and it allows the warriors to have a backup to Nazr, which I think is better than giving up Damp for Nothing.

It's not a bad trade. Both of their contracts are friendly and they can help out a bit.

I do like the cheaper, expiring contracts (Harrington ($3.1M) and Mohammed ($5.25M) next season), but it isn't that blockbuster trade that really pushes the Warriors over the edge for next season. I'm a little confused by Mully's overall plan. At first it seemed to involve getting expiring contracts and freeing up cap space, but then seemed to go into the "win now" mode with the large Fisher and Foyle deals that nixed the room to get a max player in the future. Is this trade just to get a back up center and get some lesser contracts, or will there be more "win now" moves this off season?

I too was thinking that maybe we could get something great from Dampier. Maybe it was becuase Mullin the Warriors new Gm was supposed to come in do something miraculous, giving a lot of fans false hope.
He hasn't proved anything so far that has turned people's heads and made people instantly think he's a great GM, but not many GM's are. Very few are able to pull off lopsided trades that are in favor of one team.

Also I think Damp has been overvalued by many people, no one is going to trade Damp for a player like Marion or Artest straight up. Damp just not worth it.

The way I see it all of Mullin's moves though small and not mind blowing are meant make this team win this year.

Good point. I think a lot of people got carried away with the blockbuster trade fueled by the ridiculously large multi-team deal rumors all over the internet. Damp got overvalued, but hopefully smaller, smart moves by Mullin will help the Warriors win now.

I'm kind of disappointed that we couldn't have gotten more for Dampier. And this whole using up almost all the MLE for the next 6 years on two players is kind of suprising. Maybe Mullin convinced Cohan that going over the cap is something he can afford in the future since the bay area has so many basketball fans OR Fisher/Foyle provide so many intangibles off the court and on the court they make everyone else better (they could the team's next captains). The one thing I worry about the future is if Fisher or Foyle go down or their skills start deteriorating. Maybe with a 6 year deal there is some kind of rule for a buyout and it takes off points from the salary cap.

Back to Nazr Mohammed and Harrington. It's an all right trade. Not great, but Mohammed is one of these guys that could easily average a double double during some games. Having two 6'10 centers won't be a problem if they can hold their ground and their arms are like long enough like someone who is 7 feet with medium-long arms.

I won't believe this trade until its finalized because Damp may try to go to Atlanta if they show him the benjamins. And I hardly believe the New York Media when it comes to sports. It's just kinda sketchy sometimes.

I think if we compared the Grizzlies when Jerry West became GM, he turned the Team around by making small moves, that were also somewhat questionable but he got the team to win, by getting players that would fit into Hubie Brown's System.

I' m still confused about the Fisher signing, it just doesn't make too much sense with the money they're paying him.

I can't see Damp going to Atlanta, he said he wants to win. He would be getting a good contract from NY if he would agree to the trade. The reason I believe this trade is real, is because it says Mullin accepted the trade. If it was just a rumor I would be less inclined to believe it.

Definitely isn't looking like a major deal happening, but still have a few chips: a couple of expiring contracts for useful players that could be dealt because of the recent trades (NVE, CRob.) Maybe add one of the core and get something interesting (no one is untradeable.)

And maybe a backup SF for the $1M exception....

How do Eshmeyer and Mohammed compare for back up Centers?
Thats something that just came to my mind, if the warriors will have Eshmeyer for the next 3 or 4 years, is he ever going to play. Is he worth playing back up to Foyle or is he just terrible?

I've never heard anyone say anything nice about Esh. Is he really that bad or is it his injuries/contract that bring all of the hate?

NVE is probably about to move that's why. Also don't bag on Fisher. Fisher is a player that does a lot of things well that would support either side of an argument on whether the contract he got was fair. I think he should have gotten paid more when he was earlier in his career and I guess he got paid more now because GS wanted him to be a backup guard to close out games (the replacement van Exel). If I were Fisher I might choose a lot of guaranteed money over a starting job because I get to be the hero off the bench late in my career and be the closer. Plus we want a point guard that takes care of the ball right? DFish has a pretty good steals to turnover ratio if you look at his stats online for the season. He was number 3 behind 1.)Battier - SF and 2.)Kerry Kittles -SG with 1.3 steals per turnover and he was the top point guard to do that. So he gets the ball back everytime he loses it. That's pretty good. I mean ask any Laker Fan that Fisher is a very serviceable point guard that gives you so many things but isn't considered a star player. I consider him underrated because point guards with the whole package are hard to find. Too many undersized 2's in the leagues converted to 1's that never make the leap that DFish, Baron Davis, arguably Marbury and a couple others have made in being a good point guard. Also whether Phil Jackson's offense made it so he had the ball in his hands less, it doesn't matter. His championship rings, this year's Allstar NBA skills tests challenge proved he's got the fundamentals to do his job well.

Good points CustodianRules2, it makes me feel better about the signing but I still not completly sold.

But if NVE gets moved like you believe then the signing makes a lot more sense.

Eschmeyer just has chronic injuries. He's a good rebounder though because he plays tough. But He's not really a dynamite athlete. He doesn't score much either.

Nazr Mohammed is also injury prone but nowhere nearly as bad as Esch. But when Nazr's healthy and he gets enough minutes he can score some despite his lack of footwork and rawness. He's a great rebounder and could be a double double guy I think. He's also decent in shotblocking. He's kinda like foyle in that he runs the floor well and has good bulk and long arms, but not as great as shotblocker (he'll probably get a block a game), but better rebounder (could get 9 to 10 rebounds a game if given at least 30 minutes and he's healthy).

He'll probably get moved maybe February or sooner than I think. It's possible we can make a run for a disgruntled star without having to give up a lot or get a draft pick or buncha of players for a team looking to make a push for the playoffs. I'm really excited about next year's draft. Next year's draft is going to be where all the big centers from eastern europe come out to be drafted in the first round. Or if we don't go that high to take a player we want, we can grab Raymond Felton or another point guard for once in the first round. Also if the Warriors make a deal for Andriuskevicius or Yi Jianlian I'll be happy. Those two guys have tremendous potential and most likely will be the next two season's top 3 choices.
