Better than nothing I guess. It would've been nice to have Dampier but at least Vlade's solid.

Vlade will be a decent center...but he won't last much longer in the league. This is the reason why I wished the Lakers could've traded for a high pick in the draft, while keeping their pick for Vujacic. They could've picked up a young center, but they were afraid that they might keep Shaq and lose Kobe to the Clips, or lose Shaq...or both. They had no idea, but by the beginning of the Finals, everyone knew that Shaq was gone, and the Lakers should've pressed their luck by drafting a big man that could develop into a dominant center. Then, they could've focused on Malone with their MLE. Instead, they have to pretty much choose whether to sign Malone or Vlade. This is a huge mistake by Buss, and he should've planned this...just like Shaq's departure. I love the Lakers, but I wish West was back in the driver's seat...he would've never had any trouble develop between Shaq and Kobe in the first place. He kept them together and winning...whereas Buss and Mitch didn't care. I don't wanna say that trading Shaq was a bad idea...but now, the Lakers need to focus on the future, not just next year, and Vlade won't be around in the future...neither will Malone.

Thats how I look at it. At least we have a center. A real one. We need a guy to take the charge now that Derek is gone. The Lakers need to draft some big men next year.

Hopefully Cook can show some growth this year. Since we lost Sampson, Brian Cook will have a chance to become a solid roleplayer.

I'm not feeling Dampier but Vlade is 58 years old. Ahh, well like LakerLand said it's better then nothing. Just to have an experienced 7'1 center in the middle might do the job.

What kind of a move is this? Vlade Floppin' Divac? The guy is like 60 years old, crippled at the feet, slow and heavy, and he's a former Sacramento Queen for crying out loud. As mostly everybody knows, I'm one huge Queen hater. I can't stand the players, the fans, and that organization, but picking up Vlade from the Kings would just have to make me slowly start supporting him. But some good that I do see coming out of this move however, if I were to agree on it, we get a center 7'1" of it with tons of meat in the interior, we get someone that has tremendous vision and passing ability, and provides excellent leadership in and out of the locker room. I know Vujacic is Slovenian and Divac is Yugoslavian, but is it possible Divac can be a surrogate brother to him the way he was with Stojakovic? I think it'll really take Vujacic's game to a different level if he has an oldtimer talking to him once in a while about his basketball abilities.

I'm in the same boat as you Emo. I cannot stand Vlade, but he will be a good short term solution for the Lakers. He's only worth about 20 mins a game, so the Lakers will still need to find another big man. Chris Mihm has been on their radar, which could be adequate for the time being.

I am sick to my stomach right now...VLADE DIVAC...IS ON MY TEAM ! That is one thing I never thought I would see, but I am seeing it...Atleast he is still serviceable and has great court vision, but if laker fans expect me to support himl..no way..

Everyone is talking about his court vision and his passing
    wait! what about his defense?
let me just say a few names

    T i m D u n c a n , K G , Chris Weber, K-mart, and Yao
How in the world is he going to take a rebound away from K G, Tim or Yao.
no one can stop Kobe but you have to contain him like Bruce Bowen.
What is DIVAC going to do
you can only fall to the ground so Many times.
Even if i don't like the Lakers they shoud have done everything to least get Dampier.
    or someone younger
If i was a laker fan i would have hated this move but I'm a Spurs fan so i guess i love it
    Caaaaannn yooouuu seeee ittt

I'm so Dissapointed that He Joined The Lakers, not cause i'm a Kings fan,but the fact of the Matter is,There really is no use for Divac in LA.I Wished he could have stayed as a King, and worked with the Young Guys coming up.On all Levels, this is dissapointing [IMG]

It's now official. A multiyear deal worth about 4.9 million. I'm pissed about this move because that money could've gone to Malone if he decided to re-sign with us. We don't need people from the Queens to help bolster our roster. Chris Mihm anyone? I would've expected that guy than a Hollywood flopper. Anyway fellas, here's the link:

Wow, lots of Laker fans really are hating this move. I just read this article before coming here, was actually going to post it but it was already up. But, I think this is a good move by the Lakers. They get a center who can give em around 20 to 25 solid minutes in a game, they do however, need to sign someone like Chris Mihm. But, he will do. He still can play. He may be 36 but he knows pretty much every trick in the book and he gives you a big body in the interior, which you need to have in the West. So, I think this is a good move by the Lakers. One last thing, he's going to help them bring along their rookie center, whom I can't think of right now, and that's always a good thing. So, I believe that this is a good move. It fills the hole (somewhat) left by Shaq at the center position and it gives them a veteran also.

Good luck moving that 110 mil dollar man of an even bigger scrap in Chris Webber. Because as long as that man resides in Sachokemento and plays in a Queen uniform, he suffers, the town suffers, and the entire franchise of that horrible organization suffers. But hey, thank the Maloofs for that. One of the biggest ambyssals in the league, in my opinion.

I like this move, but not as much as I would have liked Damp to be here. Vlade and Peja were the only Kings I could stand so I'm not too angry about having a Sac player on my team. He's solid, smart, and I'm sure he still wants a championship. Not a bad move at all.

well it seems your management thinks you most certainly do, offering the mde to divac. as for your previous post you might like to remember he has already played 7 years for the lakers.
