This might, well WILL, sound VERY far fetched (sp) and even stupid, i heard it from my friend, who heard it from his cousin, but.. I heard of a trade between the Nets and the Lakers. Here's how it would go down. Nets Receive: Gary Payton Caron Butler Brian Cook Lakers Receive: Jason Kidd (and possibly 1 other player that i forgot of) It really does sound pretty dumb, though. But here are some reasons why I think the Nets/Lakers would do this trade. The Lakers would obviously do this to improve their position of Point Guard, Gary Payton is talented, but he hasn't been showing me anything since leaving the Sonics, plus he hasn't been helping the lakers much. The Nets would do this though to improve their team overall. The Nets need some serious rebuilding, and this would be a big step. The Nets are also not sure how Kidd will play this season, due to his knee surgery and all. I honestly want to see J-Kidd be a Laker, because I'm not happy with how the Nets will be this upcoming season. I'd also think it'd be pretty cool for the Lakers to retire 2 great point guards, Magic and J-Kidd.

no, i don't have a source, but if i find one, i'll post asap.. I highly doubt this though, as much as i'd love it to happen
salaries don't match. maybe if u included fox's contract it might work but new jersey wouldn't do the trade.

He just needs more time to develop since he was injured last year. Caron Butler should not be on the trading block. If you were to trade a SF trade Devean George. Payton, cook, and rick fox for kidd would be good.
i did something yesterday on realgm, ill see if i still have it, but it was a good trade that was accepted.
I could care less who the Nets get, I jus want Kidd somewhere else, i'd probably switch my team, LOL, talk about a shady fan.

Dont trade Odom. He had a killer season last year. He would definately help the team. Trade Payton for Kidd. Straight up. Payton is older, Kidd has knee problems. haha. Seriously though, I dont see any trade happening between the two teams.
I don't really like either of these teams so it would not help me any as a fan but I think the Nets should trade Kidd to the Raptors for VC they both want out and they are both great players. No way do I want Kidd in LA. The lakers do not need another max player contract that they have to keep. The lakers are rebuilding and you do that by getting YOUNG players or by the draft. Besides if Kidd actually picked up a basketball and saw himself shoot he woud know that he sucks at shooting. In the playoffs he killed the Nets becuz he couldn't shoot a pea in an ocean. Kidd = NO THX.
dumb trade for new jersey. kidd for payton would be a terrible move for the nets. it would be a good trade for L.A however.

Kidd = NO THX.</div> kidd is argueably the best pg i nthe league.....if the lakers traded him for the likes of fox, cook and goerge then itd be HUGE mistake for the nets.... Jaskon kidd makes others around him better, his shooting is streaky but he can post triple doubles at any time when helathy and is an amazing passer, ball handler and has excellent court vision... a cpl of years ago, payton and kidd were o nthe same level, kidd is way ahead of him now.... he still has a cpl of good eyars left in him... GP & say some one like brian cook for Kidd would be good but i doubt the contracts would mathc since paytons only like 5 mill?

I mean, you'd be giving up an aging Gary Payton, an un-developed Brian Cook, who probably won't end up being anything better than 8 ppg, and Caron Butler, who could be a future star, and could be what the Nets rebuilt around.
