You got to give up talent to get talent. NVE is an aging talent, and this trade is about contracts, and disgruntled veterans. It's pretty much a clean swap, except Dickau and Davis fit the Warriors needs better than NVE.

You want a young talent, you gotta give up a young talent. JRich or Pietrus might pry a good player loose, but JRich is a FA next year, so he' risky.

Bottom line, we don't have that much that other teams want. We have to develop our young guys, and continue to draft well.

Well I know that you have to give up talent to get talent, but what about the case where teams are looking to dump salaries or just move somebody in return for short contracts. I think the trades were too hasty. If we had waited till the february deadline... let's say Atlanta didn't want Jason Terry anymore or the situation with Rasheed last year, we'd be able to get a lot of talent for what you give up. That's what I'm talking about.

Good point, CR2. I think we're still in good shape there, but we move Davis and/or Dickau instead of NVE...I have a sneaking suspicion that M&M (Mully and Monty) both like Dickau. We'll see.

This trade still gives us much more flexibility in dealing with Damp, and maybe we find a PG in the process. We knew exactly what we had with NVE.

Dickau was not the deciding factor in this trade. Do you think Mullin didn't ask for Khyrapa or Monia? That's probably the first thing he asked for, then after being hung up on, called back and said 'OK who'll make this work?' This trade was about getting rid of NVE, and getting another devensive presence down low.

Well now that Van Exel is gone and we have Davis and Dickau, the Warriors appear to be talking to Indiana about a Dampier for Croshere and Bender trade, with the Pacers trying to hold on to Bender. If this deal goes through we may be set up for the season. One thing I know for sure Mullin wont have to make that trade with NY.

If they got Bender, that would be impressive. With his length, we could match up defensively with any team in the league, other then the one with Shaq. And with Croshere we'd have....um....a really tall shooter? Maybe we can get a draft pick as well?

I still think Mullin is trying to convince Dallas to give up Pavel, while we take that chump Antione Walker off of his hands. You get a chance at something special, while you have NVE part two, who would be a possible trading deadline dump for another contenders draft pick.

I love it. Not the trade, although I think it fills needs much better than keeping Nick, but I like the fact that the Dampier sweepstakes have just gotten more interesting. We were dealing from a relative position of weakness (we needed to get a big man in return for Damp), now we are in a relative position of strength.

We don't HAVE to get anyone for Damp, so if teams want him, they will have to give up something good in return (if not a player, some dead wood and a future 1st round pick or two), otherwise we're better off with cap space next year. I guess we'll get to see how the market really values Damp, now.

Pavel would be cool. I think I would rather have Bender if he wants to come here...
