FSN Detroit reported a rumor that would send Sheed to the Lakers for Odom and Butler... sign and trade. What do you guys think about that? Living in Detroit and being a huge Piston fan forever, I do not want to see this happen. If we can keep Rasheed we will repeat, but I do not think we can do it with Odom in his place. :thumbsdow
Would that deal even work? Sheed is set to make what, $60 mil or so over the next 6 years and Odom is on that huge 6 year $60 mil deal still. Plus Butler is on his rookie contract still also. So, I don't know if that'd work out, who knows though. But, as a Laker fan, I don't want that. I'd much rather keep Lamar Odom and Caron Butler. For one, it gives the Lakers added depth, and they need that currently. So, that's part of the reason why I want this to be just a rumor and nothing else. Also, Butler and Odom are still young and haven't even entered their prime yet. They each have very bright futures. Whereas Sheed is what, almost 30 now, but, that's not to say his best years are behind him, though they could be, at least offensively. But, I don't want this deal to happen. I'd rather see Butler and Odom stay in Laker uniforms.
So, if my numbers are correct, Odom averages 10.6 mil/per and Butler gets 1.8 mil/per. That would mean that Sheed would basically be signing at MAX numbers in order for this to work. If it's true, then Sheed outright lied about his next contract not being about money, but where he wanted to play. Not that I ever believed him to begin with.
Horrible for the Lakers...Odom/Butler are both young players with potential to be stars..Sheed might have problems again in Detroit..I dont like it
Since Odom and Butler were just traded, the Lakers would have to wait 60 days to execute this trade. I like it from the Piston's standpoint, although it is really hard to break up a championship team.
if they did this trade...man would the pistons be deep...having butler off the bench, and mcdyess, hunter, williamson, campbell, and Darko...
Pretty stuid being that Rasheed was the missing piece of the chamionship Pistons squad. I know Odom is proving and Butler is upcoming but still Sheed fits so nicely in Det. and I can't see why Dumars would break up the core for the upcoming season. Bad Move and I'll be mad if this happens.
it would be a great move for LA if they kept either butler or odom...but Detroit doesnt have a great need for either, so this trade wouldnt make sense from Detroits perspective...I'm sure they could find other teams to get players that would make quality contributions...
This deal probable wont take place. Dumars has showed all intentions of keeping wallace and wallace has shown every intention of staying there is no need to do a sign and trade just a sign. Odam has just finished stating he would be honored to play for the lakers if they trade him that is a huge blow to the guys confidence. Butler is young talent ready to produce lakers aint and wont do this trade!
The fabolous NBA I'm loving all the changes in the nba. i cant wait to see what happens with this trade. I believe from a lakers standopoint they get another satr caliber player in rasheed. And as stated before the already deep Pistons gets a little more depth. Odoms long like Prince and i believe Butler is defensive minded. Pitons Rasheed as stated before i believe hes a star caliber player. Lakers line Payton Bryant George Rasheed Divac I think that looks coposetic ( okay )
I think this would be bad for both teams, because, as stated before, Wallace fits very nicely in Detroit and I seriously don't think Wallace would want to be on the Lakers. Also, what the Lakers need is depth, and they're in the middle of rebuilding and they'd be trading a, probably, second option in Odom and a potentially great player for them in Butler. If not that a good role player.
Bad for both teams. The Lakers should stay young and work with that team. Odom and Butler are potential All-Stars. Wallace has proven to be a great asset to Detroit. And Brown seems to be the one coach to really contain his "ENERGY".... He didn't fair so well while playin in PORTLAND and Im not sure if he'll fit into the Lakers scheme. Actually, Im sure he wont. Both teams should just stay put.

If the lakers trade either odom or butler they are making a HUGE mistake. Odom just came off a great year in Miami and he needs to build on it. Butler I can see become a good SF in this league wich both odom and butler could bring more than wallace can. The purpose of the shaq trade was to get younger and if they get wallace they are not accomplishing that. The only way I woudl do the wallace deal is if the pistons would accept rick fox, devean george, and brian cook.
I dont foresee this happening. Sheed was pumped up when he played for the Pistons, and letting that enthusiasm go would just hurt the Pistons.
