Battier just signed a six year extension rumored to be about 5 million a year so his contract is now 7 years and outlaw is in his last year.
I don't like it. Battier is solid but he has a long ass contract. We need either a stud like Bender or Desmond Mason out of Milwaukee or a big contract coming off the books next year. Battier is alright.
i like battier because he is a great backup for dunleavy and if jrich leaves then he can backup the two for pietrus. Atlanta doesn't give up anything, they just take on cap, they are included because they want swift but know that west will match an offersheet so they have to trade for him which is why they take on eschmeyers salery to get swift.
Its good to be back on this board... and wow, 15 people viewing right now, its the most I've seen... and its another testament of how die-hard and dedicated Warriors fans are. Here's my take. I'd rather pull of Swift then Battier out of all this. Bender would be nice, but he's too in love with playing behind the arc. Swift, in my opinion is on the cusp of having a breakout season. Of course, we're all still waiting for Kwame...but that's another story. The W's need to either get a quality position player from the east. Or get another big from a team in the West. There's no worse feeling than playing a player you just traded and having him dominate you in conference play. While Indy is offering garbage, the Knicks are offering straight poop, and now the Griz are offering Battier and his long-contract. Mullin must be up to something. Or maybe he'd rather have Damp walk. Whatever the W's do, it'll spark another barrage of garbage talk from the "experts" in the industry. "The new Clippers" are going to blow the West up.

the espn insiders also over estimated what foyle signed, he signed 6 years 41 million but 5 years 31 million guarenteed and the last year a team option.

If the warriors take on battiers contract, thats going to leave them with very little room to sign a Superstar, plus they have to decide whether to sign Richardson and Murphy next season. Signing Battier just leaves the team with very little flexiblity later if things don't work out.
I would much, MUCH rather send Damp and Esch to Philly for Robinson (even if Korver isn't included). I'll keep saying it until Mullin personally calls me and tells me to shut up: the Warriors should NOT be trading Damp to a Western conference team unless they are clearly getting the better of the deal. Damp would be the missing piece in Memphis while Battier would be a back up sf in Golden State that kills their cap flexibility. Clearly the Warriors get the worse of the deal. And since Atlanta gets Swift for free, the Warriors would definately be getting the least in the trade. I would much rather let Damp walk than do that deal.

if the warriors are going to make a trade with memphis then i'd rather have a deal involving bonzi wells than battier. bonzi's contract is for $7 mil. next year and a team option for $8 mil. the following year. battier's contract is just too long, and too big for a role player on a team like the warriors that will at best struggle to make the playoffs. bringing in wells would solidify the warriors and give them a 2-deep line-up at every position, and the warriors would have the option of letting him walk at the end of the year. plus, he's already played a year in a system similar to what the warriors seem to be implementing, where he played 25 minutes a game in memphis, down from the 31 a game he was getting in portland.
One thing is for sure, Mullin will not accept Bonzi. Collecting quality characters are nice, and Mullin is willing to do that even if he overpays them. However, if this deal indeed goes through, I will no longer trust Mullin, since our caproom will be screwed years after years by Foyle, Fisher and Battier. At some point of time, don't you think we need a talent to win some ball games?
