If the rockets can not sign a big name point this off season . What I believe the rockets should do is look into possible signing tim hardaway yes he is old. Though he did prove 2 seasons ago when signed by the pacers he can still play very well and hit the open three. As well as big baskets him and mark jackson could share point guard time till a solid one is found. Anyone think this may happen?

I dont think Tim Hardaway has any futher desire to play the game of basketball. He will be 38 years-old in a couple of months, has stepped on an NBA court in over a year. And when he left the Espn broadcast team in 2002-2003 to make a return with the Pacers he didnt look good at all to be honest. I love timmy but he isnt the answer for the Rockets at this point. It isnt that he cant run an offense, he can do that from his sleep. And he can make big shots from sitting on the bench next to Jeff Van Gundy,so that isnt a problem either.

The injury risk is too high with Hardaway, who hasnt stepped on the court in over a year. And still has lingering back problems from his days with the Heat. Also on a team that emphasis is Defense, a older Hardaway presents a defensive liabity that teams can expoint on a nightly basis. And its not like the Rockets have a defensive point guard off the bench who could make up for that.

If the Rockets were willing to go the route of two cheap veteran pg's, why not go with Mark Jackson & Rod Strickland(instead of Tim) but even that wont work in my opinion.

What about Jay Williams? I heard he's fully recovered from his motorcycle accident, and I think it would definitely be worth giving him a shot in training camp atleast...I think the Rockets should definitely consider giving him a look...

I don't think that we would ever start Tim Hardaway at the point if things don't work out. Don't fret right, maybe JVG is confident enough in Lue, Gaines and Jackson that he would just have a point guard rotation of those three. It won't be that bad, at least better than having two 95-year old elders who can't defend a lick, especially against lightning-quick guards in our division like Tony Parker, Jason Williams and Baron Davis.

Williams has siad if he returns to the nba his loyalty would be first and for most to the bulls orginization for staying with him through this hard time. So I dont think he would go to houston after saying that.

Didn't the Bulls release him in January or February? It would be amazingly cool if we can have Jay and Yao playing together. The 1st and 2nd pick in the same draft on the same team, has that happened before?

Yeah he said that but that was last season before they had 4 young players who could all handle the point guard spot(Kirk Hinrick, Chris Duhon, Jannero Pargo and even Ben Gordon can handle some point) their wouldnt be any room for him.

Anyway, I doubt he would comeback to jump into a starters role, right away. He is currently playing in a summer pro league on the Jersey Shore according to a newspaper article I read last month. But he wont know if his body is ready to play on an everyday basis in the NBA, until he makes his return. Its different making a recovery for him to continue everyday life then it is for him to recover to where he can continue his career in the NBA and be a legit player. Bobby Hurley made a full life recovery after his car accident in 93' but he never made the recovery to where he could continue his path in the NBA. He played like 3 or 4 years after he returned but he was never the same as he was before the accident. Thats why Jay Williams wont be able to jump back into a major role in the NBA right away. He has to build his NBA career back up slowly.

How about Maurice Williams of the Jazz? He could come for less than a million and was stuck behind Arroyo and Lopez last season. However, he played really well against us last season and showed a lot of point guard skills. Maybe we can throw a one-year contract in his way, see how JVG likes him, and stick him as a safety net in case we aren't able to get anyone else?

That's true. Lue has more experience and a better pedigree, but what I figure is that if we can't get a good starting PG, might as well stack up a few prospects and hope we find a treasure in one of them, somewhat like what the Jazz did, and they wound up with Carlos Arroyo.
