She did acknowledge, however, that Jerry Buss had made Bryant his priority. But, she also indicated that her father made Jackson a contract offer and that she strongly encouraged him, obviously without success, to sign it. She said that Jackson "was hesitant for whatever reason: health, the money or something else. I don't know." She does know that he has been equally hesitant to solidify their relationship. "I haven't made it any secret that I have been looking for a commitment from Phil on a personal level in regards to marriage that he has just not been comfortable giving me," she told the newspaper. As for Kobe pushing for Shaq's departure, "I find it odd there is anybody who thinks they can tell Jerry Buss what to do," Jeanie Buss said. "My dad wanted to sign Shaq for a certain amount of money, Shaq wanted the most money he could get and those numbers didn't meet. The situation had to be addressed." And, it was. </div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">Source</div> the article was hilarious. she was like, "Phil doesn't want to marry me. Why won't Phil marry me? I need Phil to marry me or else he's going back to Montana without me." I think almost all my respect for her is down the tube. She doesn't seem to do anything for the organization. It seems like her father doesn't even let her in on the decisions until he makes them. The Phil Jackson thing, she seemed more clueless than in the mix with what was going on. It's weird but first they interview Buss, Phil, now his gf. Who next? Kobe and then Shaq?
I enjoyed that article. funny stuff. I think she made a point though. I dont think Kobe had anything to do with Shaq or Jacksons departure. Buss wont be told what to do. Kobe could have made suggestions, but it was ultimately the management that make the decisions and call the shots. What does Marriage have to do with Basketball anyway? lol
