<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Two weeks ago, the Timberwolves and Troy Hudson figured they had pretty much reached an understanding on a $37 million, six-year contract for the free-agent point guard. Both sides seemed content. Now the NBA has refused to approve the deal. At issue is a league objection to bonus money for Hudson if he were to play in a certain amount of games next season that would guarantee remaining parts of the contract. The NBA views the proposed deal as a violation of its salary cap. The Wolves and Hudson still need to determine the number of games Hudson would need to play in to achieve guarantees in the contract. Hudson is rehabilitating from ankle surgery last season. The disagreement with the NBA is not expected to be a deal breaker, and an agreement is expected to be worked out next week.</div> Link
That is ridiculous that they need to do the Guaranteed Games here. This shouldn't break the deal, but it's going to make it complicated for them to set a contract based on GGS terms, then they will have to change terms in money(altering salary cap levels) I don't know why the NBA wanted to put an LO on a restricted free-agent, that's pretty uneccesary. This hopefully shouldn't affect th deal.
That is a stupid thing to be done by the NBA. If the team and the player do not have a problem with the contract terms agreed why the hell cant they just approve the deal. Making a certain number of games needed to be played? Thats stupid. Yo Linkin do you know if that certain number of games can also work together with the nba pre season, season and playoffs. Or is it a number of games only able to be obtained in the regular season?

This doesn't break the deal, so there isn't much to worry about.
Those only count on a regualr season game. The big problem is this can allow the NBA to get control of the contract in a way, and say that Hudson doesn't play the amount of games necessary, they can cut the contract and then made him un-restricted and make i so that he cannot be reobtained by the Wolves. Its like if you had to school a certain amount of days to pass. If you didn't you got expeled and couldn't go back to that same school the next time.

The NBA won't cut the contract just because he got injured and couldn't play.
