Has anyone checked out the NBA photostore recently on nba.com? Man seeing pictures of Shaq in a Miami uniform, Kmart in a Nuggets uniform, Tmac in a Rockets Uniform, and Stevie Franchise in a Orlando uniform makes me feel like I'm stuck in some sort of weird parallel universe. The lineup of T-mac and Yao Ming was something that I used often when playing video game basketball. It's crazy. Something crazy has got to happen to us soon only I hope we're not the Nets or the Magic when we're experiencing the craziness.

I kinda like all these movements, and your right, usually these kind of trades only happen in video games. Yeah it feels funny, but i think that things are starting to even out a bit because shaq is in the east and it would raise the level of play and help develop another future big man out there that will push them to be better. I can't wait unitil EA Live 2005 comes out, I don't care if beidrins is a backup, he will start in my team.
Well this is a once in every 5 year kinda thing. I dont see this many franchise players being tossed around. The FA list does look pretty deep for next year though
For example, I don't think the Nets will be that bad. Nene is no Kmart but he'll work. But Kmart, the guy should be a Net for life. BTW I love Biedrens already. The guy will be awesome.
When is NBA Live 2005 coming out? That should be sick with all the new teams. I'm picking up Madden 2005 in a few weeks.
I don't know when it's coming out. btw The EA football game always beat the basketball games when it comes to franchise mode. Plus I get super frustrated in the basketball game when guys like Foyle or Ben Wallace start blocking every single shot even when I'm beating them down the court on a fastbreak. Oh yeah there are too many fastbreaks in that game. Very unrealistic.
NBA Live has always come out in October, so it should be the same his year. I love playing GM in dynasty mode, because you can always trick the computer into making bad trades. Though, some of the signings/trades in this real offseason have been pretty mind-boggling. To avoid getting blocked so often you have to mess around with the game sliders. Although it's a bit tough to tweak it just right, there are usually people who've got their sliders well adjusted and you only have to do a few minor alterations from there.
Serious? I traded a buncha scrubs for allstars, but then decided it was just more challenging to do a fantasy draft and then stick with whoever I picked. So far the Steve Nash/Michael Redd/Joe Johnson/Yao Ming combo was the best I could do without having to do trades. BTW My power forward sucks. And you're right about the Defense, it's non-existant. And all my slower players get beat on every fastbreak even if my slow guy happens to be faster than the guy running it. Way too many fastbreaks. P.S. Pietrus and Cardinal are so underrated. Pietrus can't play defense and he's incredibly slow. Same with Brian Cardinal and he can't hit 3 pointers. Booo. Do your homework EA.
Yeah, the computer does trades by need.. and also it averages out players. Thus I could get say, get Tim Duncan (and a 2 other really horrible players) for 3 average players. There are player-made mods out there that alter the stats, though they're still not quite spot on. One of them made Cardinal too good of a 3 point shooter, and the other didn't make Pietrus very good. I'm too lazy to take the time to rank every player myself, though, so I shouldn't complain about those. EA on the other hand, we can complain about them, though it's tough to account for such great improvement and they were conservative on all rookies. (How would you have rated Flip Murray before you found that he was such a potent scorer?)
Flip Murray? Well I know the guy is pretty quick so I'd actually rate his quickness better than the stats they gave him right now. All I ask is that they don't underrate/overrate the physical stats of a player... that is the strength/speed/quickness ratings. Often times they underrate guys that aren't as well known and make them slow as molasses when they're not. I mean Dunleavy runs faster than some of the point guards in the game. The other thing I hate is the team play is poor. They made it more team oriented rather than that one on one free style play I always use to score which is good, but my teammates are boneheads that end up getting in my way everytime I'm trying to drive or go around a pick. Oh yeah and people tend to crowd the paint way too much when I'm in the paint with the ball. It's like spread out you dummies. I hate all those turnovers and interceptions because of it.
Sega recently announced that its ESPN football, basketball, and hockey 2k5 iterations will only be $19.99 compared to EA's $49.99 counterparts. I just picked up ESPN NFL 2k5 for Xbox and I'm enjoying it. Hopefully Sega's NBA game will be just as good when it comes out right before the season kicks off.
Is it for the PC as well? Because I love running the mods. Especially when I get revenge on the lame superstar computer mode and set all the computer stats so their players can't move faster than my slowest guy running on his knees. Take that "Mr.Fastbreak every single time CPU" and making my CPU teammates dumb as hell.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Is it for the PC as well? </div> I'm almost positive it's only for PS2 and Xbox. But with these consoles on the cheap nowadays, I'd highly recommend picking one up. Plus with Xbox Live, you could play online in a simulated league against other people, so no need for cheap CPU AI.
I also picked up ESPN NFL 2K5, its pretty sweet and for 20 bucks you can't go wrong. Chris Berman's halftime show and post game show are sweet and its just like watching a real game. Hopefully they will do that well with the NBA one.
Sounds good, now they just need to do custom endzone celebrations and the ability to be a dirty player and take out someone's knees.

Also, custom soundtracks allow you to play whatever you want after each first down, TD, field goal, sack, etc.
