Not official source yet, but he's going to be hired by Rick Carlisle and the Pacers as an A.C. He was an assistant under Carlisle in Detroit 2 years, ago so I was anticipating this move. I was one of the few people that didn't want him to be hired. It's nice to see him get another chance in the L, as an A.C.
No suprise there. They were saying that after O'Neil was given the axe he would reunite with Carlisle.
I'm glad that he was fired but I'm pretty upset at the same time because he had some characteristics that I liked so he could of become the Raptor's assistant as it would of made our team better.
^^ I do believe we still have to pay his salary for this upcoming season (about $1.5 mil?) and Chungster I don't agree with you that he would have fit in the role of being an assistant coach with the Raptors. If he was hired as an assistant coach to start with, that's fine but he was a head coach and if he's demoted to assistant coach he'll have a lot of problems with Mitchell, Babcock and all the players. His fiery personality just doesn't fit in with the Raptors... Did you ever overhear him shout obscenities such as F---ing B----hit on the sportsnet?

Oh? I thought he was guaranteed until his second year and then third year was team option.. I don't know..
I believe it was a 3 year contract with the first two guaranteed. The Raptors better keep Mitchell around longer than O'Neill. Otherwise, our free agent funds would be handicapped just because our previous coaches took up all our money.
coaches' salary counts against the salary cap as well? I thought it was only the players' contracts that count.
Nice. Haha, back to being an assistant coach. Get back to where you belong!!!! Actually, that would be a perfect fit. Can you imagine... Ron Artest and Kevin O'Neil hookup. Good luck to him in the future.

He would suit perfectly with the Raptors as an assistant. Your assumption is way off.

He also gets a contract from the Pacers, so he's getting two paychecks, 1 from MLSE and one from the Pacers.

Being the head honcho, and then being told... listen to this guy... and do what he says. How would that make you feel?
