No one got ripped off. IMO. Both teams recieved great players in the trade, but there is no player in the NBA like shaq so there is no way you will get equal value for him.

Lamar Odam offers the lakers 17 points a game. He will be a good second option if he can stay out of trouble in LA. He is young and has long arms very athletic guy. Last year he had the first triple double by a heat player in a long time in a regular season game for them.

Caron Butler. In the year that it was all about ming and amare he managed to make a late season bid for rookie of the year. Averaging 14 points I believe his rookie season. Then last season he averaged just under 10 a game do to injuries. He is still a great pick up once again like lamar offering the lakers youth and athletism.

Brian Grant offers a good body up guy for the lakers. If malone doesnt stay he could be played at the power forward position and be very affective since that is his natural spot on the court. He also gives the lakers a strong guy that will be a good influence on younger players for the team since he has been around the league so many years. Part of that deep deep bench in portland for all those years helping to mature jermaine oneal into the player he is now.

The heat then for those players lost alot of depth. They also lost skip to free agency to the raptors. So in terms of depth they lost out. Shaq though offers them the most dominate force of our time and automatically makes them a playoff conteder. As well as a title conteder. He needs some more help though or they wont be able to do much. They may get to the finals, but will lose without depth like orlando did when shaq got them there.

Anyway all and all it was a good trade for both teams. The lakers got youth the heat got shaq. It evens out in the future my current winner of this trade for how effective it will be for there team now is the heat they become straight out title contenders in the long run though the lakers are the winners with two possible future all stars gained in this trade.

i think the lakers got the lesser part of the trade but i wouldnt say they got ripped off.
Whenever you have the most dominant player in the game i feel u should keep him.

No one got ripped off. Can really trade fairly for SHAQ, but the Lakers did well. They got two youthful players (24) and potential All Stars in return for the big guy. Plus, Rudy T is coaching. everyone seems to forget just how good rudy is as a coach.

I dont think this went well for the Lakers....

Lamar Odom will not get the shots that he wants too with the Lakers. He likes to drive to the hoop a lot, (which is alike to Kobe) and he likes to pop the mid range jumper. Like it or not, Odom is going to want to get his shots.

Caron Butler is a young player who will not be able to develop properly, while he is not getting hardly any shots though. He may learn a few things from Kobe though.

Brian Grant might be good enough to play PF in the eastern conference, but he does not have the size to play PF in the Western Conference

It was a fair trade for both teams. The Lakers can never replace Shaq, he was dominant and no one can be as good as him. Odom was a good move for the lakers. He will be a future allstar IMO.

I think it was the heat because they still kept d wade and they're top scorer, eddie jones (which barely edged out odom), but watching the team usa play I'm already missing odom. He's great at scoring, plays good defense, averages well with rebounds, and is pretty efficient. I hope he does good in L.A.

Odom is not going to be an allstar while playing with the Lakers. You really think that he will get better numbers than last year, while playing with Kobe. Last year, he was basically a number one option for the Heat. He is hardly going to get the same ammount of shots with Kobe on his team
