<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Mike Montgomery was angry. He was tilting back his chair and banging his hands on the table. He was yelling. At Pro Summer League referees. In a game earlier this month that he was observing, not coaching. Yelling very loudly. ``I'm sitting here trying to learn how to coach in the NBA,'' the Warriors coach bellowed as the referee wandered near, ``and you guys aren't helping me at all!'' And Montgomery was laughing, too, elbowing his newly hired top assistant, Terry Stotts, and glancing at Keith Smart, who coached the Warriors' summer league entry and could only nod to Montgomery. Mike, this was your team's first summer league game. Mickael Pietrus -- the squad's best player -- was already hurt, your offense was bogged down, and the referees were messing up calls every two minutes . . . ``Is this what NBA refereeing is like?'' Montgomery said. ``Boy, I don't know about this anymore.'' That was when Stotts, Smart, assistant Mario Elie and several Warriors on the bench close by broke up in laughter, audible throughout the Long Beach Pyramid. Mike Montgomery, after 18 grinding years at Stanford, was this really you?</div> http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ors/9239249.htm
That was a very fun article to read(check the link! there's a lot more). Mike Montgomery is definitly a good guy. I like him and have since a few years back watching him coach at Stanford. I am hoping he'll do a good job. I am still sceptical, probably more so because we just had Musselman. But Mike should do a decent job here.
I like it. I think Mike is going to do fine. He's got sound principles and he's very likeable and the players that play for him want to play hard.
