According to a report out of the MInneapolis Star Tribune newspaper, Mchale let us know that he feel Malone will sign with the Heat.

Regarding the possibility of signing free agent Karl Malone, Timberwolves vice president Kevin McHale said he hears the veteran power forward will sign with Miami.

    Just passing the FYI. Peace

Not really surprising Karl Malone is trying to win a championship,as well as fit into a team. And right now Maimi is his best place to do both. The Heat have Shaq (who of course recrited him to play in LA) which means they will be in the championship mix for the next season or 2, especially since they have an easier road to the finals playing in the east with only the Pistons & pacers to worry about really.

And he will fit in nicely with the Heat because they are pretty limited at the power forward spot other than Udonis Haslem, so Karl will play a major play a major role on their team next year. Karl already knows his role playing alongside Shaq, he knows that is main role is to defend the major bigbodies in the league so shaq doesnt have too. And on offense his main role will be to make that 15 foot shot like he did in LA, to prevent teams from over doubling Shaq with 2 big bodies.

So even tho, Karl is going to a new team with a new system, he already knows his role, so their wont be a big adjustment for him, which is better for Karl this late in his career. So the choice to go to Miami is understandable.

But if the wolves could have pick up the Mailman, he would have been just with the doctor order. He brings the inside tuffness the wolves lack, he takes a little defensive pressure off KG because he can guard the top 4 & 5 in this league, so KG wouldnt have to do that as much. And he would add some interior scoring to a frontline that doesnt have any besides KG.

Why is this in the Wolves thread? It's a quote from the Wolves VP and nothing else.

This would be a great addition for Heat, but im not sure about that knee. It bothered him all season after he came back and he looked hobbled in the Playoffs and especially the Finals where he sat out Game 5. Knee surgery would help, but his age and is beggining to concern me regarding his health.

I think its in the Wolves thread because their was rumors that Malone was possibly in the running to join the T-Wolves. So Kevin Mchale's statements ends those rumors for Wolves fans. So in a way it does impact the wolves, so its understandable that it is located in the Wolves forum imo.

I said it in the lakers forum about that statement and I will repeat it here. Malone I believe will remain a laker here is why.

I hope he does sign with the heat. He would help shaq alot in his bid for a championship. Though I believe that it wont happen in my heart. Why would a GM from another team be saying stuff about a player he doesnt even know personally or what is going through his head.

Malone always seemed to me to like kobe better than shaq. Even one time on the best damn sports show he made light of the fact that shaq got a personal trainer to get back in shape. Then he always seemed to support kobe over when people were making fun of him and talking bad about ihm because of the court case.

Malone is a man of his word and if he continues by that he will either remain a laker or retire. Though malone also isnt stupid so you know he knows he has a better shot at a title this year with shaq rather than kobe. He lost alot of peoples respect when he went to the lakers last season to get a title rather than stay in utah. Does he really want to do that again this time to the lakers?

Good point Pure skills, but I thihnk he'll retire in the end. Henacy thanks for clearing up why this was in the Wolves thread, it proves that one, McHale was interested enough to find out some info and two that the wolves rumors of looking Malone had some validity
