<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When I interviewed Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson before a game early in the NBA Finals, Jackson pretty much said he had had enough of coaching and was going to hang it up after the season. A season spent staring at adversity certainly took its toll on the Zen Master. Phil didn't seem to say anything different in his comments after the Lakers were eliminated by the Detroit Pistons in five games. He intimated that he didn't want to coach anymore and that is likely what's going through his mind. Jackson has indicated that he has more or less decided to retire and that the chances are very slim that he'll be back. This isn't a snap decision, though. Retirement is something Jackson has given a lot of thought over the course of a tough season filled with high expectations, injuries and all the off-court problems the Lakers encountered. Add to that four future Hall-of-Famers on the roster and the pressure is tremendous. </div> FULL STORY
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting typemilitant:</div><div class="quote_post">old news</div> Yeah I know, but didnt see it posted any were so thought it would intrest those who havent seen it yet. I still think he is gona take a year off and then come back though. Retirement is never official until the person is either passed away. So many coaches have been coming back also players hardaway did it a few years back with indy, jackson last year with houston, MJ all those times, and hubie brown with memphis.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ButtZilla:</div><div class="quote_post">Know your limits and when to quit! </div> I Don't see Jackson just giving up coaching like that. He's going to come back, but only if the team has the abllity to make the playoffs and go all the way.supposily from what i'm hearing, and this i'd take as simply a rumour is that if the Kings don't get to the playoffs or lose they would fire Rick adelman, than try to lure Jackson?? Honestly even if that doesn't happen,Jackson will coach in the NBA in the 2005-2006 season??..It's a guess!
No Phil will definitely be back in less than 4 years. He is striving too bad to win 1 more ring to break Red's record for rings. He is the most competitive coach to ever coach in the league and believe me he'll be back. When he eventually comes back he will probably only go to a team with at least 3 all-stars as well.
I would have liked to see Phil get his 10th ring. I think however, the only way he comes back is if he goes to a team that is a contender. He won't go to a team that he has to rebuild.
