http://www.hoopshype.com/rumors.htm If they are seriously tring to get this kid it would be a good replacement for k-mart. This guy is a good player with serious potential ( a word often over used in nba). He has a great size and could become something special in the nba last year when brand was injured he played great for the clippers.
after giving up Ely already this offseason do you think that the clips would give up wilcox too. other than for the right price. Someone needs to back up Brand.
I agree that someone needs to back up brand.
Quoting Aaron:

after giving up Ely already this offseason do you think that the clips would give up wilcox too. other than for the right price. Someone needs to back up Brand.
But I think a kidd that has so much potential like wilcox could be hindered by playing the bench for brand to shine.
Lastly who in the world could th nets trade for wilcox evenly.

I just think it would be hard for them to give up to PF both in there second year, because you know Sterling would rather have this second year player shine so he can trade Brand instead just for cost reasons thou. But my main point is I don't see them trading away two young PF in the same season.
It would be tough to give him up after Ely was traded away for nothing. A package of Aaron Williams, and 2 of the Nuggets 1st rounders might do it.

Quoting Banks:

It would be tough to give him up after Ely was traded away for nothing. But I don't know if wilcox would be worth that much thou. Think 2 first rounders is more than my poor timberpups have had in the last 5 years you really put alot of value on those when you don't have any.
Wilcox isnt going anywhere...he is a promising young man and the Clippers wont ship him out..who is going to back up Brand? Wilcox will get his time to shine, if the Clippers dont have a winning season this year I see Brand out, rumors earlier this year ssaid he was already on the outs because he is the highest paid Clip ever and he isnt winning..
Like Kobe 8 Ball said, Wilcox isn't going anywhere, Clippers don't win, Brand goes, but Wilcox is Brands backup, and also Kaman's backup, and he'll get his minutes, so he isn't going. Also the Nets don't have anything to offer, Aaron Williams and 2 picks isn't going to do it.

Quoting og15:

Like Kobe 8 Ball said, Wilcox isn't going anywhere, Clippers don't win, Brand goes, but Wilcox is Brands backup, and also Kaman's backup, and he'll get his minutes, so he isn't going. The team has an option for his contract for the 2005-2006 season, and he might not want them to excerise it, because they wont be winning, and he'll be coming off the bench. Its almost a given that Wilcox will not resign if Brand is still there and they're losing...still. He won't play Center, because he's not a center and Kaman is there. So it would make sense to trade him. I'm hearing that the Nets will offer Kittles if the Clippers elect not to match Q's offer. So that would give them an expiring contract, some depth with Aaron Williams and picks. It would make sense, a kid with so much promise like Wilcox does not deserve to come off the bench for his whole career, which is what is looking like right now.

The Nets didnt even want to give him up in that deal but had to inorder to make it work under the cap. But in this deal the Nets dont have to give up A-Train to make it work under the cap. If Williams is included in trhe trade then the deal makes no sense for the Nets because even with Wilcox they still dont improve their frontline if the give up Williams while doing. The Nets would have gave up Williams to Portland because still to a certain degree would be improving their frontline because Shareef is a 20 & 10 player.

So the cap situation doesn't really matter because the Nets would be getting back a rookie salary while giving up salaries that would work for the Clippers, because they're under the cap significantly.

Chris Wilcox, Nenad Kristic & Jason Collins is not an upgrade from Aaron Williams, Nenad Kristic, & Jason Collins. It is equal at best. The Nets main goal is to upgrade their frontline to please Jason Kidd. Which means this deal is useless in doing so if they include Aaron Williams, who has been their most productive big body over the past 3 years other than Kenyon Martin. The only way the Nets would upgrade their frontcourt in this situation would be to keep Williams & add Wilcox in a deal for Kittles.

This is upgrading their frontline.Although you lose toughness and inside presence of Aaron Williams, you get Wilcox who can be a very good replacement for Martin. He's a better scorer and Rebounder than Williams, and could be a force in the east within a year or so. If they could get Wilcox without giving up Aaron Williams I would definitly do it...but the Clippers would look for a backup C and PF in return, preferrebly a vet (Aaron Williams).

Of course he will probably be better then A-Will in the future but it isnt garunteed. Aaron Williams has already proven to the Nets he is capable of putting up starter type # when giving the chance like when Van Horn was injured in 2000. And he had to spend part of the season as a starter. So the Nets are not going to give up Aaron Williams & Kerry Kittles for a guy who may tun out to be a bust next year as a starter. They are going to need to keep Williams as insurance because he is proven.
