Put the Cavs moves in perspective and see what you think about the big picture the front office might be seeing lately. I must say I like what I'm seeing. I'll try to do this as objectively as possible, by listing what I see as our most significant big picture acquisitions and trades.

Step 1. Cavs pick up a basketball prodigy (LeBron) that can reasonably play SF or SG (PG a stretch) The jury still out on defensive potential but he is clearly a superior talent.

    2. Put him together with a talented offensive center in Z who lacks speed and girth for good big man defense

    3. Lose Ricky Davis (problem child with talent) and gain Eric Williams (role player) and K- Brown the acquiring of whom would lead to Step 8

    4. Add to that an all- around team-oriented PG in McInnis

    5. a.Lose Kapono, a good 3-shooter with potential
    b. Replace (?) with more athletic but not as accurate Pavlovic

    6. Draft a role playing SF in Jackson who plays a pass first game but can score. (Obviously the jury is out on him)

7.Lose excellent talent in Boozer who could score sometimes at will and rebound quite well. Mistake.
    a. Look silly
    b. But save face by immediately replacing him with Drew Gooden (a similiar but less offensively talented PF)

    8. Pick up an effective and experienced role- playing PG in Snow to back up (?)McInnis a player who had been injured last year.

I like this team we have built. We have a solid mix of veteran leaders at ball- handling positions (PG) and center, and youth at the athletic positions (LeBron, Gooden). Our FO finally appears to have a plan in mind.

Can this foundation compare to the style of any other past champions?

They have also put together a very versatile team. Almost everyone can play multiple positions. Im really bored so im gonna waste my time and type them all down:

    J-Mac-PG and SG
    Snow-PG and SG
LBJ-PG,SG,SF,even a little PF(possibly even C if the some of the Cavs' doctors' predictions come true and he grows to 6'10.)
    Dajuan-PG and SG
    Ira-SF and PF
    Luke-SG and SF
    Sasha-SG and SF
    Drew-SF and PF
    Verejao-SF and PF
    Z-just C
    Diop-PF and C
    Hunter-PF and C

I dont think I forgot anyone. The Cavs have done a great job this offseason. They've more than made up for the loss of Boozer. All they need now is another veteran backup bigman and they're ready to start the season.

Although I agree the Cavs are versital, I don't think Newble can play PF at all......and even thought he may be placed there, Wagner is an awful PG.

Ya my personal favorite move was Paul Silas trusting Carlos Boozer word. THAt was the best ever.

On-Topic: I do not get the point of this thread. Is it to show us the Cavs moves this off season?

There were times last season where Silas thrown in Newble to play PF to create a smaller quicker lineup on the floor.

I thought he was Alaskan? And what kind of steriotypical post was that? Are you saying that hispanics shouldn't be trusted?

Was Ira Newble any good at PF? I don't think he's the best SF, mainly because he doesn't consistantly put up points, but playing him as a PF would be interesting. He's an inch shorter than LeBron James and 20 pounds lighter. To me, that suggests that LeBron would be a better option, but Ira is probably more experienced there.

Ira is wide, which inables him to play the position well but not great. I doubt that will happen again this season, Ira is a Silas fav so expect to see alot of him tho. He can be a lockdown performer if healthy.

    Boozer is Alaskan...

Anyway, I also like what they've done and I really like the team that they've got not. Losing Boozer was kind of a big hit but hope fully Gooden can make up for that. I liked watching him play in Orlando, and I think he's got pretty good talent.
