<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In the past few months, Mehmet Okur was part of an NBA championship in just his second year in the league, been the tall part of a wedding ceremony in his native Turkey and caught a Utah Jazz bouquet worth $50 million for six years of his company.
Kevin O'Connor, senior vice president of basketball operations, looks on as newly signed Mehmet Okur talks to the media Tuesday.
    Chris Bergin, Deseret Morning News
"Life is good," Okur said during a media conference minutes after signing his deal with the Jazz at the Zion's Bank Basketball Center. "I can say my dream has come true."
"He had a big smile on his face," said Jazz president Dennis Haslam after watching Okur sign his contract.
But what can he possibly look forward to now, though, in a Jazz uniform? He has it all already.
"A championship here," he said quickly.
But before that can happen, what Okur seeks as he leaves the title-winning Detroit Pistons is playing time, maybe a starting job and a chance to be the finisher on the Jazz's famed pick-and-roll plays.</div>

Posted this in the Pistons forum, might as well post It for Jazz fans as well

Good luck to Memo in Utah

you've got your ring and now you can get all the minutes you want.

would of liked him to return to Detroit but in the end, the money Utah decided to pay him was too much.

The guy is a very talented player and will do well in Utah. Sadly he didn't have the chances he maybe deserved in Detroit. His relationship with LB this year was not the greatest. It's fair to say the lack of playing time was a big reason why he wasn't consistant enough. When he was given big minutes he put up very soild numbers. He even had a two 18 rebound games this season, he can certainly rebound the basketball and has a range of moves in the post. His main problem was not willing to stay inside all the time. Larry Brown didn't like the fact he kept staying on the three-point line. I'm sure Jerry Sloan will feel the same.

I truely believe Memo can become a 16 and 9 player quite easily, he just needs to work harder on his game. Many times he moaned and was lazy when he was in games but then again that might have alot to do again with the lack of time he played, certainly when Rasheed arrived.

Should be interesting when Detroit faces the Jazz, I'm sure the Wallace brothers will have some choice words to say and It certainly won't be easy for him to do anything inside.

The fact he won't be alone inside, with Boozer and AK in the big bad west should help his game. His team defense really has to improve, he isn't that bad of a one on one defender but still needs work. Thats the only real negative I have to say about him, I certainly like his game and wished he played more but with Sheed around It just wasn't possible.

The beauty of Okur is that he is always in the right place at the right time. His ability to drain jumpers from several different spots on the floor is very valuable. His overall awareness is stunningly good. Okur's game is unique in that he comes into the game and simply delievers in a few different categories. His courtsense is great for a PF and his understanding of the game makes him a very valuable ball player. Utah now has a GEM

AK and Boozer, I figure both of those guys will be pulling down atleast 10 a game.
