I hope this isn't true, too much money and too many years.

? TV ratings for Monday's Twins-Chicago White Sox game on Fox Sports Net North reached 12.6 (206,098 households), with an average of 9.8, the highest of the year for a Twins game.

? Brock Lesnar, who signed with the Vikings for the NFL minimum of $238,000 and no bonus, made $2 million a year as a professional wrestler and walked away from a lot more to try football.

? Latest word is that the Timberwolves are giving serious consideration to matching the $27-million, six-year offer sheet the Portland Trail Blazers gave restricted free-agent guard Trenton Hassell.

We shouldn't re-sign him, everyone made their opinions on this matter already, just thought I post an FYI for non-Minnesotans who don't get the St Paul newspaper.

    Peace

Seems pretty useless to sign him when they already got Sam Cassel and Troy Hudson.

I may be understanding you wrong, but wtf do cassel and hudson have to do with hassel. Hassel is a small forward cassel and hudson are point guards so signing hassel would not affect the point position at all. ANyway we are also in the market for another point since hudson has injury history and cassel has court issues.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kevin McHale, the Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations, said a decision on whether to match the six-year, $27 million offer made by the Portland Trailblazers to restricted free agent Trenton Hassell won't be made until the Wolves study the contract.

The Wolves have a right to match within 15 days of when Hassell signed, so they have until Aug. 10 to decide whether they want to bring back one of their starting guards from last season.

The contract could include a number of incentives. If that is the case, the Wolves likely will match it. However, with point guard Troy Hudson and Wally Szczerbiak healthy again, there is a question how much Hassell would play next year if he came back to the Wolves.</div>

Cassell's court issues won't affect anything. He will be back from the trial before training camp starts. Troy hasn't had many injuries before this season. He has been usually healthy. Blake Stepp might be the team's 3rd pg, if he plays well in the training camp. He won't be evaluated in the summer league because he had a ankle injury.

In my opinion, the Timberwolves will match the offer.

I think we should re-sign Hassell or at least try to. He was a major factor on defense and I don't think the T-Wolves would have beaten the Kings without him. He is hard to replace on the Defensive perspective.

You can't "try to resign him" because he already signed a contract with the Blazers, it's a matter of them willing to match the offer and give him that kind of money for that amount of years.
